  1. I figured it would be something like that. I guess I will have to deal with the old optical out untill I decide to take the big plunge on a decent recorder. Thanks for the quick reply though.
  2. I use an old school mz-r37 for scratch pad recordings and a mz-dn430 for a player. I have noticed that I can transfer my sp recordings back to my library via my net md player. When I try to do so, it looks as if they are transfering (it says tranfering on the top right). However, when the transfer is finished I can not seem to find the recordings in my library. What am I missing?
  3. I am looking for some advice on purchasing a couple of lower end microphones. My price range would be about $25.00 a piece. I know, you get what you pay for. Still I need a single point stereo mic, to record in a coffee house singer song writter type of atmosphere. And a small mono microphone for random sound samples. If you could list a few models of microphones within this price range. I am recording onto an old mz-r37. Thanks
  4. Can anyone tell me if they know of any good websites to purchase pre-recorded/premastered minidiscs from. Used or new; any condition. I am aware of ebay's rotating selection. Now I am looking for other sources. Send me some links please.
  5. Thanks guys, Im sure I will never use SonicStage to import .wav files; I was just curious. I use cd architect for most .wav imports/exports. As for my second question? Anybody?
  6. I have recently updated to SonicStage 3.3. Normally I do not think much of Sony's software. However this time around things seem to be looking up. 3.3 seems to be a little more mature. It runs smoother and faster on my system. I like what I see but I have some questions. Question 1. When importing an album into the library from a cd, are the file converted in any way? Do they remain pure wave files? So to say that if one where to burn an audio cd straight from the library, using SonicStage, would there be any quality loss from the original cd? Question 2. I know that Simple Burner runs in the background of your system by default. I also know that this can be disabled. If you look in your control panal/administrative tools/services you will see sony in a few different places. The start up for these listings looks as if they're all set to manual (as long as you have already disabled Simple Burner). So as far as I can tell SonicStage/Simple Burner seem as if they're perfectly clean of background services. Am I correct?
  7. I think we have all known this was coming. Remember Apple's Japanese ad campaign from around 2003 "hello Ipod, goodbye md". Well, Apple may have been on to something there, but who cares. I have been spinning minidiscs for years now and I still love them. All forms of media are forgotten eventually, but that does not mean we have to. Some people are still into wire recorders. I just recorded a whole album of songs onto a 1/2 inch reel recorder made in the late 1970's, and it sounds totally bitch'in. Given it cost me $200.00 for 4 for rolls of 15 min tape. I still did it becouse I like it. So if you like the minidisc keep on using it. Im sure we will always be able to buy the parts and accesories needed to do what we do. hello ipod, goodbye md
