Maybe I'm bein dumb here, but don't other companies make MDs? I mean, none of the blanks I buy are sony ones, and I have a Sharp MD recorder at home. Is there a chance other companies will pick up the market where sony left off? I live in ireland, both of our national radio stations use minidiscs. I guess we're not counted as part of the world though, right?

actually, that looks like the only option, so I'm trying it again. I've tried every combination of ss3.2 with the personal audio driver and OpenMG update, nothing works. Now I have ss2.1 and ss3.2, and I THINK its working. Although I had to come into work before I could test fully....
-
Yeah I tried that too, didn't work. Can't remember now but it either wanted me to uninstall 3.2 first, or 3.2 just wouldn't work after 2.1 was installed.
-
Ok, I've just upgraded to SS 3.2 Via the offline installer MDCF provided, still no joy. Whether I have the MD plugged in or out when I start SonicStage, it won't recognise the device. The only transfer options I get are for Audio/Mp3/Atrac CDs. I'm not really happy with the idea of having to reinstall XP just to get this one thing working. I just have too many apps and customisations made. Any more ideas?

well it works for me, didn't have to play with any options, I just uploaded off one disc and it's still on that disc. Although its a little disconcerting that it won't let you upload anything from a write protected disc... I just wanted to ensure my recordings would be safe after the sonicstage 2.1 fiasco.

Thanks for that. Ok the (offline) work PC now shows the SonicStage splash screen, so it's getting that far, but it says it "cannot locate needed files related to windows media format"? Then it shuts down sonicstage...

technically speaking, what does making 3.2 internet-free entail? I assume its just copying the files and exporting all the various reg entries made by the installer, then packaging it up? Its just I've been trying to do it myself. Have it installed on one machine at work, trying to port it to the one next to it, but alas, no joy. It keeps telling me it can't find the OpenMG secure module?

Having the very same problem, also with an NH-700. SonicStage 2.1 deleted some tracks off a disc of original recordings on me, so I decided to upgrade, but now 3.1 won't connect to the player at all. I've been told to upgrade to 3.2, but since I don't have the net at home, this is impossible until someone comes up with a standalone installer. If you find a solution to this prob, PLEASE post it, as will I if I come up with anything. Cheers!

I've tried the volume hack on my NH-700 and not noticed anything significant. Anyone know any other way of boosting the volume? I often find myself going back to my MZR-35 for the sheer loudness. Enough to blow the doors off a mini...

I've done nearly 10gb of mp3s at one time by this method, so worst case scenario, you could do it in two batches. obviously you'll need nearly the same amount of space on the drive with sonicstage installed though....
-
Yup, same thing happened me. And I can't upgrade to 3.2 either as I also have no home net connection. SonicStage 3.1 won't recognise my MD, and also the WAV conversion tool STILL asks me for a version higher than 2.1, even though I've now installed 3.1

me three. No net connection at home.

I just upgraded SonicStage from 2.x to 3.1, and now it won't recognise my hiMD when I connect it! I know the USB is working fine because it still comes up as a removable drive. Whats going on?

Hi, long time reader, first time poster. Been recording original music for a film sountrack on my NH-700. There was over two hours of it, so I decided to upload and convert with the Sony WAV converter tool instead of feeding it through a line in and trying to get the levels right. But when I tried to transfer it in sonicstage, it transferred the first group of tracks (about 1hr 20mins) but just deleted the second group (about 40mins and far more important) the second group disappeared from the disc and wasn't transferred at all. I'm really annoyed right now. The first thing I did was write-protect the disk so I couldn't record over any saveable data. But now what? all the recovery stuff I can find seems to involve wires and things - is there any app that'll do a file recovery? I tried using a Restoration program but it came up empty. At the end of my tether here, can someone please help? ? ?
