hi.. i recently got an mz rh 10 recorder... there are some clip on attachments on the wires... what are these for...do they serve any purpose? do i need to have them on? they make the wires heavy and take up space... are they some sort of legal thing as per country laws ?? thanks..

"I just picked up an RH10, and given my NH600D to my girlfriend. I want to be able to create MD's on my RH10 that are playable on the NH600D. I've chosen ATRAC3 132kbps as the bit rate. Most of my MP3's are 128kbps, with some 192kbps. Unfortunately, my RH10 transfers the 128kbps MP3's without any conversion. Since they're still in MP3 format, they can't be played on the NH600D. If I select Hi-LP mode, then Sonicstage will convert them, presumably because of the lower bitrate. Is there any way of forcing Sonicstage to transfer a huge selection of MP3's and force it to convert them? I've figured out how to do it one track at a time, but that's really not an option for huge playlists" hi... why not try to increase bit rate of mp3 so its above 128 kbps so that conversion to atrac is possible...do this before importing into ss library...

hi reprosser.. why dont you try removing the gum stick and using the player with only the dry battery compartment.. if the problem stops then u will know for sure that the gumstick is causing it...then you wont have to send it back...and u can save your money...

i wish that even though sony is stopping himd they would handover the rights to manufacture blank himd media to other companies...i guess that if it had continued then over time sony would eventually do this.. i dont think himd(players) technology is manafactured by anyone else unlike md that was also manufactured by others like sharp or denon ...etc.... hopefully sony will continue selling blank himd media for atleast a few more years...

does anyone know if any companies apart from sony are planning to make blank hi md discs? there are lots of companies making 74,80 minute md's..i cant find anyone making 1 gb himd apart from sony... thanks

hi.. on a mz rh 10..is it possible to save small program files like vst or plugin installers(around 300 k files) on the disc ?is it possible to get a virus on the disc while connected to the internet or transfering a file...could this affect the hardware??? thanks..

i would like to add to the question... this seems to be happening with the usb cable as well... after charging for some time..it stops... the manual says that usb is only provisional and will stop after about 6 hrs and charge only half the battery... i understand this... but after the charge icon stops..i take out the usb wire and plug it back in after a few seconds..and it continues charging for another ten minutes or so...before stopping again... has anyone noticed this...soon after battery seems to be charged half or full and the icon disappears.. if you reconnect the usb or ac adaptor..does it continue charging for a while ? i dont understand ... could there be a problem with the player or the gumstick or is this normal??. thank you...

i imported a mz rh 10 from n america i live in india ...the supplied adoptor says 120 volts, 5 watts whereas the sockets here are 220 or 240 v... i just bought a voltage converter to step down from 240 to 120 v... (i am having difficulties finding a converter specifically for 5 watts..i got one that says 20 watts..i think it means from anywhere between 0 to 20 watts max) i plugged the adaptor and converter together into the wall socket and pressed stop on the player... charging starts and the charging icon is displayed... the question is... the chrging icon and display go off after a while and i have to press stop again to start charging.. i have been through the manual..it says that the display does'nt go off while charging but it seems to be going off... i have now changed the display option to on instead of auto off... it still happens... is this normal?? could there be a problem with the voltage converter?? should i discontinue using it?? nothing abnormal seems to be happening apart from going off every 15 to 20 minutes...no error messages... will this damage the player?? i contacted sony ..they say to buy a sony universal adaptor.. any advise?? thanks

hi i just got a new mz rh 10.. when i open the lid to take out the disk..the disk comes out when i pull it out but the sliding cover that covers the inner disk remains open ..i have to slide it shut manually... why is this happening? i tried another md ..the same thing happens... is this normal?? maybe its happening cause its new and still a little tight..and will loosen up soon..(i hope so).. thanks...

hi.. thanksfor all this info... why i ask this question is because i read a post about the ac adaptor not being compatible with the country... i live in india... my player is still being shipped to me...i have not yet tried the unit... i wanted to know if i could only rely on the external battery to supply power incase the adaptor dosent work properly...incase i cant use the gum stick or charge it at all... it may take a while before i can find the right ac adaptor for the player that will work in this country...(or do i require only a connector to convert the sort of pins..not sure) i have to wait and see...once it arrives... this is my first md unit ever... cant wait... anyway... thank you...

hi.. is it allright to use any mike with the mz rh 10... i just bought the player... cant afford a decent mic right now.. can i use low quality mics (aprox 5 $) for a while..like the dynamic omni karaoke mics.. will a low quality mic damage my player?? thank you...
