I used to be a big fan of md players for quite a while, bought them for 2 generations, now I think sony just sucks. Here my 2 big reasons not to buy another one: 1:I prefer convienience over audio quality. no native mp3 support, no buy 2:even if it did support mp3, if I can't just drag&drop from pc to player, no buy either So what's so great about md players today? Not much really compared to average mp3 players. Giving u a chance to use ur earlier recordings is the least sony can do to reward u for sticking with their products for many years. In the end, they are just like Microsoft, wanting not a piece, but the whole cake, and looking at this forum, it seems they've found enough lemmings they can ATTARCT,DRM and Sonicstage I mean no offense, but I feel screwed with the course sony has taken, and now I wish my huge md collection was mp3 instead.

Hi there, Sony started baiting people into atrac by lowering prices for hi md players: the nz-600 is available for just around 60 € in europe. It must be possible to get the gear to play mp3 out of the box via firmware hack, dont u think??? I bet that would piss sony off quite a bit Is such a mod possible??? Man that would be great!!! A mobile storage device and mp3 player for just 60€ and 6 € each gig...i bet this would be the end of atrac.
