  1. Adrian, I'm stoked at the work you guys are going, and look forward to each development. If you are able to accomplish it, you will produce what almost everyone on the this forum (and elsewhere) wished they had for years. Thanks!
  2. I'm not a Terminal guy by any means, but the install was simple. Thanks to your clear instructions. Yes, it took over an hour for the extra packages to be installed in Macports. QHiMDTransfer works great for uploading PCM recordings. Thanks! I'm running OS 10.5.7 on a MacBook 2.4 (black) A couple of notes for feedback: 1) One thing to add would be that QHiMDTransfer remembers where you uploaded tracks last in the Finder. Then, the next time you upload, you don't have to go through the process of finding the directory, that is if you are uploading to the same folder each time. This is a minor inconvenience in light of the freedom that this application offers. 2) the rename feature isn't working. I highlight an item and click the rename icon (or the File menu item), but nothing happens. 3) My daily recordings are done on an MDLP unit (B10) that I then upload to my computer everyday in SonicStage. MD formatted discs inserted into the RH1 will not show up in the Finder. Is it even a possibility to develop QHiMDTransfer to transfer SP/LP/mono recordings, when non HiMD discs do not show up in the Finder? One thing to note for all those who are going to upgrade to Leopard Snow, is that QHiMDTransfer is a universal app. Whereas Hi-MD Music Transfer is PowerPC, which will not work in Leopard Snow. And I doubt that Sony has any plans of further development for Hi-MD Music Transfer.
  3. Awesome! The speaker makes it easy for quick edits without having to fiddle with earphones. The only thing I wish it had was manual recording level. The high/low mic setting is sufficient. I use it 5 days a week, and upload recording with RH1 to Mac (XP in VirtualBox).
  4. probably no surprise, but it fails to upload files recorded on an MDLP (MZ-B10; SP and Monaural), and put into RH1. I use this system everyday with SS.
  5. If you need testers for the Mac, I'll do it. MacBook 2.4, OS Leopard 10.5.6.
  6. I was interested in these for the form factor and "divide" feature. However, after reading the manual, the divide feature is much more limiting than the MD.
  7. I have a B10 for language learning. Periodically, I transcribe recordings or have my tutor do it. One of these foot unites would be very handy. I have not found any online (in the States). The only reason I know they were manufactured is because the B10 Manual mentions it.
  8. I'm running SS 4.2 in XP (VirtualBox on a MacBook). Maybe SS 4.3 and/or Vista corrects the problem?
  9. Thanks for this post. After following the first post, it was still slow. I had no Netmd or Sony stuff (hidden or otherwise) in the Device Manager. What fixed it for me (in addition to the first post's instructions) was to - uninstall all the USB controllers - restart - plug in the RH1 - A new NetMD USB controller appeared in the Device Manager. - Uninstall this controller - Unplug and plug back in the RH1 - Windows alerted me to a new NetMD device and installed the drivers (I guess). - Launched SonicStage, and the SP uploads screamed. Thanks!
  10. Thank you! If I had the technical skill to help, I definitely would. Looking forward to its development!
  11. Here are some more images. I don't know how these models compare to previous Sony voice recorders. On these there is an A-B playback button and a Divide & Bookmark button, with a "PLUG IN POWER" microphone jack. It also has five recording levels (low, high, higher, music mode, manually), and records in mono and stereo from built in mics. I got this because I ran ran Google Translate of a Chinese site: http://www.hbbear.com/2/lib/200903/10/20090310106.htm
  12. any chance this will have a minidisc like track mark feature?
  13. I bought the "Typing Genius - Get Emoji" from the iTunes App store for my iPhone. It comes with all kinds of emojicons, one of which is a minidisc. However, I don't know anyone, outside of this forum, that uses minidisc. So I don't see me using that emoji con in an SMS.
  14. Audacity is free, and will do what you want. I've used Amadeus (Pro) for 10 years ($40). Excellent support, and the app I always go to for audio stuff.
  15. woops! I didn't read it careful enough.
  16. they've got them here. http://www.minidiscaccess.com/fc101.html
  17. While in the Mall, I saw a booth selling invisibleSHIELD that protects electronics from scratches. http://www.zagg.com/invisibleshield/index.php It covers the screen or the entire device, like phones, iPods, etc. They sell prefabricated shields for all kinds portable devices. However, they will also cut out custom covers for any device, which got me thinking of my MD stuff. Yesterday, I took 3 minidisc units and two remotes to the Mall to have the invisibleSHIELD put on them. While you could cover the whole device, I only covered the screen part on each item. He charged me $5 dollars for each item (5 screens = $25), and $10 for the installation. I consider it a sweet deal for $35. It only took him 20 minutes too.
  18. The Angels Are Singing (various artists, 2003). Female bluegrass gospel singers. In general, I'm exploring folk, and I'm really enjoying this album. I never thought I would listen to bluegrass!
  19. I didn't know about AOL Radio for Mac. Thanks!
  20. try http://www.tape.com/MDJC.html
  21. Christopher Williams The Silence In Between. Ripped with cdparanoia and imported into SS. I'm new to playing music on MD this month and loving it (PCM on NH900). I've used MD unites for language learning and lectures for 10 years, but never music. Music on the MD with good headphones sounds awesome.
  22. Guitarfxr replied to one of my posts where I was asking about the differences between a MZ-B10 and MZ-B100, and that I was having difficulty finding one. He sugested the B10, and offered to help me find one if I couldn't! After I asked him too help me, he found one within a week, a used one in excellent condition. He promptly packaged and sent it to me. He even took the time to take photos and send them to me, so that I could see the unit.
  23. B10 thanks to Guitarfxr! and a NH900 from eBay in excellent condition for $114.
