I just bought one of the tiny Y mics from minigear labs on ebay, which requires plug-in power. If I were to cut the wires and resolder them onto two separate XLR cables, would I be able to use the mics with a preamp that has phantom power? Would this overload the mics? I think, but I'm not sure, that phantom power is more volts than plug-in power. Basically, I want to use these mics but not with a minidisc player... Any help would be much appreciated!
