  1. rizyr.. Hey, ya I figured that out soon after. Thanks though. I'm glad to see WMA Lossless is getting accepted by Sony. I imported about 2500 songs in to SS in the format. Its going to take a literal day to convert all of them to 256 Atrac3Plus and transfer them to my VAIO when it gets here!
  2. Oh boy... so, I figured it out. I couldn't find where SS was putting the imported files but I found them. All I need now is to edit the ID3 tags... Thanks for your help, haha ;-)
  3. Sorry, kurisu, I missed that support topic link. Okay, first the basics... Win XP SP2 / SS 3.2 (installed 8/15) Athlon 64 3200+ / 512MB RAM / 8x DVD-RW / USB 2.0 No other programs running, just background apps (VirusScan) And now a re-statement of the problem... I'm trying to import a large set (500) of WAV files into SS. I want to encode these into Atrac3Plus 256 for permanent storage in My Library and for transfer to a VAIO Pocket. I have tried to import these files through both the graphical interface and through the File --> Import --> Scan Folder... tools. Both ways seem to work but once the program is done importing the files (there is a progress box in the middle of the screen during this) the files are nowhere to be found in My Library. I have re-tried this process by selecting a small set of files (~20) to import and that doesn't work either, so it doesn't seem to be related to the number of files I'm trying to import at once. These WAV files are archived albums that I no longer own or are stored away at my parent's home. I have Atrac3 132kb copies of most of the albums but I want to re-encode them at 256kb from a clean source. I have been importing from the CDs I do have with me and that is working just fine. Only the WAV importing is a problem. I have used SS for nearly three years now and haven't ever experienced this problem. Granted I don't import music files too often, and never with 3.x but I do consider myself a power user, which makes this all the more frustrating. All advice and comments are greatly appreciated Ryan
  4. Hey all. I just ordered a VAIO Pocket and am re-ripping my collection into 256 ATRAC3plus. My entire collection is currently in 132 ATRAC3 (MZ-N10 previously). I also have all these albums archived in WMA Lossless (non-DRM), which I thought I could convert to WAV and then to ATRAC. However, when I try to import these WAV files to SS3.2 they don't show up. It goes through the import status box and everything but then they are not in my library. Ultimately, I just want to find a way to convert these WAV's to ATRAC3plus and get them in SS3.2 or at least on my VAIO Pocket. Any ideas?
  5. Shoot. That was not what I wanted to hear but at least I know. Thanks, Tom. And yes, I have SS 3.2 and will put the new firmware on the Pocket when it arrives.
  6. Hey, I just ordered the VAIO Pocket via TigerDirect for $249 plus a replacement plan and shipping. It is replacing a nearly three-year-old MZ-N10 10th anniversary NetMD I had imported from Japan when it was first released. It makes you think how far we've come in portable audio the last three years. I am certainly an ATRAC fan and I went w/ the VAIO Pocket over the HD5 b/c of the color screen, dock w/ line out (I still prefer a docking station, and reminisce back to the time when I first docked my Sprint TouchPoint celly in 1998), and 40GB capacity to load most my collection in 256 bitrate glory. Anyways, to my question... I also ordered a 15 foot A-to-A USB cable thinking that I will just put the cradle by my stereo so I can use the line out with a quality 1 1/8" to RCA cable but still have the ability to transfer files from my computer (via the long USB running to my box) when I need to. However, I then read in a PDF manual for the VAIO Pocket that they say the A USB jack is for connecting to cameras and other devices for transfer and that the B (mini) USB jack is for connecting to a computer. I assume that it shouldn't matter which jack I use when I do my transfers but I was wondering if anybody uses an A-to-A USB cable from their cradle to their computer. Thanks, guys. Very informative threads here. I'm glad somebody finally got around to compiling all of Sony's ATRAC devices into a comprehensive site. Kudos!
