the same exact thing happen to my NH900 and my DH10P, i've replaced the batteries on both of them, still same issue.

For some reason my DH10P refuses to charge. Even when the battery is empty to such an extend that I couldn't even turn the unit on, the charging light would turn on for around 1 minute before it shuts off again when i put it on the charging stand. I thought my battery had died, and bought a new battery from Sony. However, the same problem occured again. What should I do now?

i suspect lose battery connection. same stupid prob with my otherwise wonderful 900.

So far, the most pressing issue of the 2007 Consumer Electronics Show, or CES as it is universally known, concerns the next generation of DVDs. After years of public squabbling between technology companies and billions of dollars spent on research and development, these new DVDs that promise high-definition picture quality have failed to capture the public’s imagination. The format of next-generation DVDs has been split into two rival camps: Sony, the champion of Blu-ray discs, and Toshiba, with HD-DVD. Consumers have been left wondering if there will be a replay of the VHS-Betamax debacle of the 1980s, in which millions wasted money on soon-to-be-obsolete Betamax machines. That has resulted in painfully slow uptake of either Blu-ray discs or HD-DVDs. Even the inclusion of Blu-ray capability in the new Sony Playstation 3 failed to produce enough High Street momentum. But one gadget is promising to come to the rescue. Tomorrow, the South Korean company LG Electronics will unveil a DVD player that supports both Blu-ray discs and HD-DVDs. At the same time, Hollywood’s Warner Bros studio will unveil a new type of high-definition disc that can hold recordings in both new DVD formats simultaneously. LG and Warner Bros hope to convince CES delegates that these advances can save the home video market, worth about $24 billion (£12 billion) a year in the US alone, or $460 million a week. Hamilton Faber, media analyst at Atlantic Equities in London, said: “If LG can get the price low enough, this could be a very attractive product.” But others caution that the LG player may not be the Holy Grail. Having seen the traditional music industry seriously damaged by Apple’s iPod and iTunes online music store, analysts are questioning whether the same thing could happen again with online video. The website YouTube is already proving to be a rival to TV networks, attracting an estimated 20 million users a month. The website Itwire.com said that it would take until 2008 for the prices of next-generation DVD players to come down to “sane” levels. “But by then it might be too late. Who will need Blu-ray or HD-DVD when consumers will be downloading movies and TV shows right to their hard drives?” But other issues also remain. To complicate matters further, LG will have to pay royalties for both the Blu-ray and HD-DVD patents, which could make it prohibitively expensive. I am experiencing this problem in SS 4.0, where both the paging file usage and ram usage climbs constantly after I run it, even when I am not using the program (just keeping it open in the taskbar, and it is not doing anything). The CPU usage by SS4.0 eventually reach 97, and hangs. I'm using Windows XP on my laptop with Pentium M 1.6GHZ processor, and 512 MB of ram so it shouldn't be a problem. Anyone experiencing the same thing as me?

from what I check, you can withdraw from paypal with just a bank account, but u need a credit card to add funds to it. Yep, I already have a paypal account.

Hi all, I know this is kinda asking for too much, but is it possible for anyone to donate a LIP-4WM bought off ebay and deliver it to me (in Singapore)? This is because I'm a student, don't own a credit card, and could not buy it off ebay myself. But why does Hi-MD's removable disk don't work on mac?

Because I don't actually use Hi-MD for recording (more for backing up my source codes and listening to high quality music, which is why DH10P is my unit of choice). When third generation came out this year, I was pretty sad. No unit for me!

I am dreaming of a portable Hi-MD with faster read/write, ability to play videos. Games. Wait. Time to wake up. Chances are Hi-MD will be mostly targeted at the recording group if there is a 4th gen. I was hoping for more consumer friendly and fanciful features, like color screen, camera etc. I still couldn't find my dream DAP in the current market and DH10P is the closest I got. Hope sony can release an update to DH10P. Can't they open up the format and let other brands have fun as well, since Sony couldn't handle Hi-MD well..

Any rumours for 4th generation? Or is it too early? Any speculations?

Just curious as to how many are actually storing computer files on Hi-MDs, and for what purpose? Personally I use it to backup all my programming and web authoring source codes and designs. Its slow, but more reliable than CDs, harddrives and thumbdrives. What about you?

I always know that the battery life is poor, but I was amazed when I managed to take 100 photos over a period of 7 hours (on and off) during Sngapore's National Day in one single charge. Pretty close to Sony's estimation of 110 photos.

Wah! Just got a call from Sony Singapore! The repair cost is S$357, (USD 190) more than the price I bought my DH10P at. The justification for such a high price is because the LCD is shouldered onto the main board, so they have to change both (-.-") Do you think it is worth the repair? Couldn't buy another DH10P at such low price. Am a student so USD190 is very high price to pay for me. Sigh.

Just went down, the person at the center asked if I want him to quote me a price for the repair. After much checking on his PC, he said he couldn't. Haha. Now its just 2~3 days of wait for the engineers to call me with updates on pricing and whether it can be repaired. I'm worried about the liquid from the screen flowing back into the circuits and causing more damage, so I've kept the screen face down since the time it was spoilt. Now falling back on my old MZ NH900. Can't seem to get used to it. The display is too dull (no colour and very small) . That is like the price I got my DH10P for, but in Singapore Dollars. If it cannot be repaired I doubt I'll be able to afford a new one.

am very sad. My bag fell to the floor from around 1.5metre. The beautiful screen on my DH10P cracked. Am bringing it down to Sony Customer Service later, but I do not know if they could get it fixed (lack of parts, not for sale in Singapore, etc) And if I want to buy another player.. I will never get used to one without a camera.

not body peeling off.. but the nice texture... so MD looked "scratched"

mine is highly scratched too. I quickly went ahead and bought a protector. Then i notice the silver texture on the body starts to "peel". Weird. Will be babying it in the pouch from now on. No more dancing in my trousers pocket.
