SonicStage 4.0 doesn't play mp3, and doesn't convert correctly
rocklegend replied to pusrob's topic in Software
I had a similar Problem and I had to reinstall my Windows XP from my disc which reinstalls the OS onto your PC without overwriting any files on the Hard Drive,After that SS played all MP3´s -
Well it´s nice to see Minidisc marking it´s 15th Anniversary but the only thing I want Sony to do is to give us Gapless Playback on Hi-MD...I mean how simple of a tast is that......... Sony....I Want Gapless On My Hi-MD player

Hi....Guys I´ve had my NH1 for about a year now and have become very frustrated with the Sound from the stock Buds that come eith the unit.It doesn´t have much Bass in the sound....too many highs and Mids and when using the Graphic Equaliser to add more Bass or Bottom end the sound just becomes more muddied....So I was wondering if ye could help me find a decent set of Headphones that would enhance my listening expierence with my NH1..... Are Sony´s Fontopia headphones any good...... Cheers
-
Is the RH1 as good or better than te NH1....I love the sound of the NH1 and does the remote from the NH1 work with the RH1
-
Got great news.....I´ve solved the problem.....the problem was that Sonicstage 4.0 corrupted my files when I changed back to 3.4 and also Creative mediasource re-ID´d my MP3´S and when I removed the Creative soundcard and all of it´s programs it messed up the Audio Codec so I reinstalled Windows without reformating my Hard drive and Sonicstage is working like a dream. It´s playing mp3´s and transfering them to my HD5....I wpuld like to thank ye for your help....if anyone else has this problem they´ll need to reinstall Windows XP from their XP Disc and Windows will fix everything
-
Tried this but didn´t work....
-
I´m having the same problem with mp3´s.Welcome to the world of the awful software that is Sonicstage
-
Okay I´ve changed back to SS CP4.0 and it will import my mp3´s into my Library but it still refuses to play the mp3 codec.Anyone Have an idea or can help me.....This is driving my insane
-
Okay I´ve finally installed SS Ver 3.4 and it has imported all my Mp3´s but Sonicstage is still refusing to play them....Does anyone have the mp3 codec for Sonicstage 3.4.... Sonicstage will play all formats except mp3 and it will even play my Hi-MD without fail which wasn´t happening in the past.....please,please can someone help my find the right codec for SS ver 3.4
-
Okay another problem.....Sonicstage just hangs after launching.....I just reinstalled SS CP and it´s just hanging.....so not only do I have a problem with SS 4.0 with regards mp3´s but now this.....this has got to be the worst software that I´ve used in a long time.....if I can´t find a solution to these problems soon I feel that I´ll be joining the iPod brigade because these problems are just pissing me off to no end....3 weeks of this.....my head is truly wrecked
-
I had the same problem so I uninstalled SS CP and reinstalled SS 3.4 and I´m having all sorts of problems as I had to go back to SS CP....SS CP is probably the worst piece of software that I´ve come across..... Maybe this will help you....if you have a mp3 converter try converting the file to another format and see if it plays and then convert it back to mp3...it could be a DRM issue....I used to do that and found that it was a codec problem....unfortunately I´m still trying to find the answer
-
And how do I find that out....
-
It sounds like Soundstage has forgotten again that it knows what mp3s are. Do you have this same problem after a reboot? Install that codec again if you do Yes I´ve had this problem for a while....I´ve uninstalled and re-installed Sonicstage many many times....I´ve even uninstalled other music playing software such as Winamp and still the same.....Again Sonicstage doesn´t reconise my mp3´s only Atrac and Wav Files.....That Codec is installed on my PC.....Sonicstage was working no problems and then when I turned of my PC to go to bed the next day the problem returned.....This problem is really getting on my nerves.....
-
Well for some reason the problem has come back.....When I tried to import my mp3 library I get an error saying that sonicstage cannot import files that are not registered to sonicstage.....Anyone know what this means......
-
Well the good news is that I found out what was causing Sonicstage not to import or play mp3 files and that was because I didn´t have a Fraunhofer IIS Codec on my PC...This is needed for Sonicstage to play mp3´s.Now there is just one more problem....I have my entire mp3 library imported into Sonicstage and Sonicstage will play 95 percent of my files...the other 5 percent when I play those mp3 files I get noting but Noise....like the file is scrambled.... To answer you question the MP3 default program is Winamp....
-
Can you figure out what codec is actually playing your mp3s? How do I find out what Codec is being used.I disabled all the Codecs that was in Sound And Audio Devices. After diabling the codecs I played some tracks in WMP no problems but it didn´t look for codecs but Sonicstage is still refusing to play MP3´s.Should I delete all the Codecs on my PC......I don´t think it´s the ID Tags because even when I rip Mp3´s using Sonicstage it refuses to play. The thing that confuses me is that when I import an MP3 File I check the properies of the file and it saus for example....9,7mb but when I transfer the same file to my HiMD or HD5 it says that the file is 2004mb even though it´s trsnfered at thesame conversion rate of 192......
-
It´s funny that you mention Winamp....This really all started when I installed winamp ver 5.22.Since then I´ve had all sorts of problems....but the thing that confusses me is that I have the same problem when I rip mp3´s using Sonicstage that has no IDtags from Winamp... I´ll try to be a little but more patiant as I do realise that it´s a forum and not a live chat....it´s just that this has been wrecking my head for the last 2 weeks....To be honest this problem also satrted when I uninstalled ver 4.0 and reinstalled Ver 3.4....Sonicstage was playing mp3´s when I had winamp installed......I have checked other and older Threads but others haven´t had this particular problem.....Thanks for your help.....

I guess there's no-one out there that can help me......

Hi guys....I was wondering if someone here can help me.I'm at my wits end here with Sonicstage.I first had SS 3.4 but decided to change to SS CP 4.0 and here where my problem started.I installed SS 4.0 and noticed that it wouldn't play certain mp3 files like one in every 10 tracks so I decided to Uninstall SS 4.0 and go back to V3.4....I uninstalled everything and reinstalled V 3.4.....Now SS V3.4 or V4.0 will not play any of mp3 files even when ripped by Sonicstage itself....only Atrac and my NH1....The problem is that my music is in mp3....also when I was installing both SS 3.4 and 4.0 when I went to import my music files I get an error saying that it doesn't regconise the format yet before I changed anything it played mp3 files no problems yet now it won't....I've uninstalled and reinstalled everything about a 100 times and it's really starting to Piss me off....so much that I nearly bought an iPod yesterday......Why can't Sony just create troublesome software....oh and before someone says Reformat your hard drive I'm not going to do that.....Please I hope that ye can help me and save me from this torment...............Thanks....................

Sonicstage 3.4 Debuts With Stunning New Functionality
rocklegend replied to Christopher's topic in News
I live here in Spain and I downloaded the American Version and I haven´t had any problems...SS3.4 has come in the nick of time as SS3.3 had started to act up a bit...Thanx Sony this was badly needed...I guess they´re given up on Connect player...I still prefer SonicStage to iTunes......People complain about transfering music to Sony devices...You should´ve seen the problems my Bro Had trying to transfer music from iTunes to his iPod...Only one wish for Sony...Please develope the mini-disc Format and give us 2-3GB Mini-Discs....now that sounds like heaven... -
Is there a big difference between 105kbps:132kbps in Sound Quality.Does anyone know how this Bit Rate compares to MP3s sound quality.I´m lovin my MZ-NH1.........
-
I got my MZ-NH1 on Xmas day and I can´t take it out of my ears...a beautful player.Ipods are for the fashion brigade. The only gripe I have about the NH1 is the battery life.Maybe I expect too much.Go Hi-MD you won´t regret it.I just hope Sony will support this format.
-
I don't have CDs of all the music that I own as some of them were bought on Connect and they wouldn't transfer to my Hi-MD.The problem was not with SonicStage 3.3 it was with My Windows XP and now I don't have any problems...It drove me crazy for a while and I just re-installed SonicStage with my Hi-MD plugged into my PC by accident and it just worked after that but before I fixed the problem sometimes it wouldn't transfer tracks even in Atrac...All is well now.
-
Having just bought a Mz-NH1 Hi-MD I was wondering has anyone got any cool Custom Graphic EQ settings for the MZ-NH1 to change the sound. Also is there a Hack so that one can change the settings on the surround sound settings on the player and I don't mean going from Hall to Arena but actually change the High,Mid and Low of the sound like you can in the 2 Custom settings...I like everything from Rock to Movie Scores.
-
Problem solves...I had some corrupt mp3s so I conerted them to PCM using Nero and then to Atrac. Some of the mp3s were ripped from a CD by another program so they weren't illegal or from a P2P program. The mp3s played without any problem but transfering to my Hi-MD unit was difficult.Sony need to get there head out of their arses although SonicStage3.3 is a step in the right direction. My Brother has had more problems with iTunes and his iPod and is returning his iPod for the new Sony Walkman...Anyway guys Happy New Year
