I apologize if this has been answered (I'm sure it has), but all of my searches came up empty... I need to record from a mixer in pcm format. I was hoping to go with an MD recorder, but I had some questions first. 1. How many minutes/hours of pcm audio can be recorded on a Hi-Md disc? I've read that several hours can be stored on a disc, but I haven't found anything specifically about recorded pcm audio 2. What is the transfer speed of pcm audio from MD to PC? Again, I've read the claimed speeds, but nothing specific to pcm. I would be uploading roughly 2 hours at a time Like I said, I'd like to return to the MD format, but these lingering questions have me debating between H-MD and the M-Audio MicroTrack II (please no flame wars). This is a home unit made for recording CDs/mp3 CDs to Minidisc at high speed (4x). The unit comes with the remote. I have owned the unit for 2 years and have had no problems. It will recognize mp3 audio discs, but it did not recognize mp3 discs recorded as data discs. It has RCA and optical inputs. I am selling a used Blaupunkt New Orleans MD70 in-dash minidisc player. It is only compatible with SP recorded minidiscs. It comes with the wiring harnesses. It features the Blaupunkt digital equalizer, 4x45W power, CD changer port, black with silver trim (indiglo face), fold down face with security card (included). I need a portable player that has excellent live recording capability, yet can also record audio in SP/legacy format via optical line input. I need standard format for my car dash unit. Live recording: mainly vocal recordings --> stage rehearsals, a cappella group, choir. *It is not essential that this is done in standard format. Other: recording from other sources through optical input --> mainly from PC using M-Audio Transit. *Must be in standard format. If I understand the information correctly, 1g HI-MD players would work (NH900, NH1). Minidisco confirmed that 2g HI-MD players will not work (I really wanted that RH10). The problem is availability. Any other suggestions? Thanks for the help!

Hello all. I've been using MD for 9 years, and I've just found the forum. Oh well, better late than never... My main use for MD is in the car. Right now I have a Blaupunkt MD-70. The problem is the transfer of music from my computer to MD - it's way to slow and clumsy. This shouldn't be a problem now with HI-MD, but the Blaupunkt only recognizes the original MD format (not even MDLP). I haven't been able to find a straight answer on the transfer spped of a HI-MD unit in standard format, but I assume it is at 1x or close to it. Any suggestions? The highest spped I have not is 4x, obtained by PC-to-home deck (MXD -D40)-to-MD. This is a pain when I only want a few new songs. What I need: high transfer rate; standard format replayability Thanks for any help!
