I agree. For live recording SD flash is just getting too easy. Can you upload recorded concerts and jam sessions at anything faster than realtime speeds on this unit? I would love to have a portable player and a portable recorder be the same machine. I hope this unit can make this happen. I agree with you on all these points. However, I travel to camps or places away from AC power. I use two rechargable 2500mAh NiMh AAs. Being able to carry many extra bateries or buying common AAs from a store in a pinch is real useful for me. Not being tied to a computer or having to be tied to an AC outlet to recharge is one of the main reasons I bought mini discs and not iPods. Ubiquitous AA batteries is an advantage that MiniDiscs stll have over iPods. I'm suprised Sony gave up that advantage. li ion batteries are expensive when you start buying a lot for backups . Still I guess Sony figured people wanted a slimmer form factor which li ion gives you. Rick I agree! Rick
