I had similar trouble when upgrading from 3.3 to CP. However I then formatted my NWA 1000 and transferred my 1500 plus songs back from SSCP. Everything now works. Songs, albums and artists are all filed alphabetically and the Initial search works. It took about 20 minutes to transfer the 1500 songs.
