  1. The vendor Etronix said SONY can be reached here: 800-222-7669. SONY did indeed send out a cover for the battery compartment, but I needed the entire plastic end of the unit - so we're in an exchange situation. If they have a replacement battery cover for me, then they may sell them also. Good luck. phil
  2. No, I don't know, but I'm having a bit more success now and I'll tell you what I did do: I took out a partially burned MD from the recorder and re-put it back in - and SonicStage noticed it, so I could burn to it but not FROM it to SonicStage. Other basic things were re-booting the computer, re-plugging in the recorder - that type of stuff. Currently my attempts to record TO the SS library From the MD keeps getting the error message: "Tracks that do not exist in MY Library are selected. Cannot transfer the tracks deleted from My Library to the computer.". True enough, I did originally burn them to MD via the library, and then deleted them from the library. So it DID indeed work when I transferred FROM the MD to SS when I used a minidisc that wasn't "sourced" from the library. I just kept trying different things...I'm not sure WHAT made the difference. Good luck on this. phil
  3. Hi, Thanks for the responses.... I really appreciate knowing that simple burner won't work with Vista home premium - saved me A LOT of research - thanks very much for that Arvin. After I figured out that I needed 4.3, I un-re-un-re-un-re-installed THAT one, which DID work that night only - the next day - no go. What I could do was add to the library from CD thru hard-drive, then transfer to the MZ-M200, which worked ! ...No way could I transfer from the MD to SonicStage though. No longer can I transfer TO the MD recorder anymore.....should I just try ANOTHER uninstall/REinstall???? Thanks, phil
  4. I wish I could help, but I need similar help. SonicStage installed earlier today - played cd's but would abort import at the 99% point every time. Eventually it steered me toward uninstall/reinstall program - which I did. After reinstall/restart, it won't even open at all; it keeps giving me an error message "The selected music file cannot be played back because the system information has been changed. Click OK to automatically close SonicStage and open the SonicStage System information Restore tool. (Error code 00004e2e)" - which, through following it through it's twists and turns, led me to this point of it won't even open. During the install and the later un/REinstall processes, both times it wouldn't load the "Simple Burner" part of the program, it said it was aborting that installation, and I clicked "ok" like I had a choice or something. My system is Vista if that's of any information.... What's a mother to do to get this thing rockin' please? phil
  5. I have a tricky problem and it seems too easy to be a problem, but it really is one... My new MZ-M200 HI-MD recorder arrived yesterday. The battery cover fell apart in my hands - the whole side of the MD is off and broken....vendor gave me SONY's contact number, SONY says they'll mail me a new one - so far so good. The problem is that: 1.) I don't see a way of re-attaching a new one .....and 2.) the original problem that it wouldn't open at all. The original plastic cover is in 2 pieces and runs the length of that side of the recorder. Can this be done, and is it going to be counter-intuitive, like it's removal was? Any assistance will be appreciated greatly - thank you very much. phil
  6. Thank you very much for narrowing the field. Also, the mic recommendation is much appreciated. Sincerely, phil
  7. I've recorded every concert I've been to since 1985 and been detected twice. Both times the gear was held by security for pickup when I left the venue. Both times the tape or disc was returned un-erased. Both times they were very nice to me. Not all security behaves professionally - there are some real thug/goons out there so be cool (as always!). phil
  8. Hello Everybody, I'm looking for a Sony MD recorder for a friend that records her college lectures. There's so much information on the internet that it's confusing! The features that I want for her are the SONY brand, and ideally, an included microphone. Also a recharger. If the best way were to be to buy a separate microphone, then If you would kindly direct me then I would, of course, appreciate that as well. Currently she is using one of my 4 recorders ( a SONY 900) but since I only have one recharger it's kind of a pain for her to periodically bring it to work for a charge-up. Since all my MD's are gifts from another friend, I can't just give it to her. So I'm looking for the MD recorder that will do the job for her. Any assistance will be most welcome - Thank you all in advance. Sincerely, phil
