  1. I'm trying to register, but it has the "State" box as compulsory and appears to be only Mexico - is there a way to register for international users (I'm in the UK) or is it impossible? Can someone talk me through it if it is, please - my Spanish is passable, but that's all.
  2. Ugh, it's done it again tonight. I'm guessing from the lack of response that it's not possible to retrieve the audio. I'm a bit worried now, though - the last two times I've used the unit I've had the same error when trying to play the discs. Is it possible that something's gone wrong somewhere and there's a fault in the unit, or is it more likely to be bad luck (I removed tonight's disc from the unit before I put it back in to play it, is it possible it got jolted or something and that caused the error)? I'm really hoping it doesn't turn out there's a problem with my MD - it took me three unsuccessful attempts to actually get a unit that would record successfully from a mic in the first place.
  3. Sorry if I should have found this elsewhere, I did search. I was sure I'd seen something about TOC errors in a sticky post or something, but if I have then it doesn't seem to be there now. I've just attempted to play a recording I made on my MZ-N710, and all that happens is that the disc flashes up with "TOC ERR". I've tried it in my old MZ-R500, and it comes up with "ERROR" in that. Is there any way to retrieve the audio from the disc, or is it lost for good? As far as I'm aware, the disc recorded normally, and performed the TOC edit as it should. It was recorded in LP2 mode on the N710, on a brand new disc. Any help anyone can give me would be most appreciated. Alison
  4. Hi guys Still having a bit of trouble with my N710. It's now recording fine (when I remember to set the volume levels properly - don't suppose there's any way to stop it resetting to auto volume every time?), but it randomly turns itself off at times. I looked in the troubleshooting in the manual, and all it suggests is that it's trying to overwrite a track that's been checked out, but I've been using blank discs, so that can't be the problem. It does it even when the hold switch is on. Any ideas? It's also refusing to recognise the gumstick battery at all. I can run it okay off a rechargeable AA in the dock, but it's a pest. I'm fairly sure it's a problem with the MD itself, not the battery, as I've tried both the NH-10 that came with it and a brand new NH-14. Any help would be much appreciated. Alison
  5. Goodness, this has taken me a long time to get round to replying. I bought a charger for the batteries, charged them up until the charger said they were full, and the unit won't recognise either of them at all. It will run fine off a AA battery in the dock, but won't run from either the NH-10WM that I got with it, or the NH-14WM that I tried. Any suggestions? At least it works, and I can run it from the dock okay. It's just a pest if I can't run it from its own battery.
  6. There is, yes, but unfortunately the battery won't charge without the cradle. I can run the unit off the mains okay, but without the charging cradle the battery won't work.
  7. So, after two failed attempts to get hold of a working unit that will record from a microphone at a reasonable price, I finally have an N710 that will do what I want it to. Problem is, I can't find anywhere where I can get a charging cradle for it (I have the MD unit, 2 rechargeable batteries and a charger, but without a cradle the battery won't charge). I was hoping to get one on eBay, but I can't find any listed. I have the AA battery dock, so I can operate the unit from there just now, but there's no point in having 2 rechargeable batteries if I can't charge them. Any suggestions as to where I might be able to get hold of one (as cheaply as possible, I'm a poor student) would be much appreciated. Thanks. Alison
  8. I bought a used MZ-N707 from eBay this week, and it arrived this morning. Problem is, when I try to record, the recordings come out silent. It's definitely getting a signal okay, cause I can hear the source through the headphones when it says it's recording. But as I say, when I play it back, the files are silent. I've tried it with both my microphone and analog line out from my stereo, and both have the same problem. Can anyone help? I want to use it for recording stuff like my lectures (I have an old MZ-R500, so I don't need another player), so not being able to record is a bit of a problem. Thanks. Alison
