And what do you base that assessment on? A notion that honest and dishohnest are derived from absolute and unsubjectified notions, rather than an individually informed/constructed binary? 1.) Your version of honest and my version of honest are not the same, as honesty is not an objective value found within existence, but a subjective value that is fabricated through an individual's participation in a socio-cultural structure. Honesty is--as Judith Butler might say--performed, and must constantly be performed in order to exist. While a normatized 'honesty' may pervade, it doesn't mean that it is right. 2.) I don't think it is dishonest to do what I have outlined above, perhaps you think it's dishonest, and for you then it would be dishonest. I haven't slighted Best-Buy, I've just found a loop-hole in their sales system. To me it's no different than running a red light when there are no cars coming. So then, your attempts to subjectify me to your dishonesty are moot beyond you. 3.) I assume that you have never 'illegally' downloaded any mp3's, ripped tracks from a friend's cd, or taken advantage of a vending machine's capacity for error in food or change distribution? Many people view buying products made in China--amongst other countries--as dishonest because of work conditions and pay rates, should you or I be subjected to these abjectifying qualifiers? 4.) I don't think anyone would accuse an ant-eater of being dishonest for having that particularly adept snout. It's all biological adaptation.

Or if you really want to get gangster about buying it cheaper, buy something else that has a coupon--or "limited time discount"--and then return it without the receipt--and get a credit for its full price--then use that credit to buy the RH-1. One of the beauties of mass-capitalist business ventures is that there are always ways to skirt the issue of paying what they require you to pay.

What kind of computer are you using, and what kind of files are you trying to transfer? -
Thank you. Have you done any mono recordings?

Has anyone used the RH-1 to upload legacy recordings made on non-Sony units? I use a Sharp Md-dr7, and am subsequently wondering if there will be problems uploading content recorded in SP-stereo, and SP-mono on my Sharp unit.

Here is a site that offers them for $12.00. http://store.whsle.biz/product_info.php?products_id=38 I just did a search in froogle, and that came up.

OK. Thank you. An is there any definitve news on when--or if--there will be a software update that allows you to upload legacy discs not recorded on the rh1 with a mac? Thanks again.

I'm confused: I checked the mindisco site and they mention that hi-lp, and hi-sp recordings can only be uploaded if they are recorded on the RH-1. Is that accurate? I was under the impression that you could upload any legacy discs--including mono. Have I missed some info somewhere?

Here is the link to the Audiocubes page: Buffalo Himd. I was not sure if anyone else had heard of this company/unit--if you have, what's the deal?

Can you only upload uncompressed audio from hi-md via the usb port? Descriptions of the product have led me to believe that this would be the case, but clarification is always clearer. Thanks.

Ahh, but you're forgetting that it also comes bundled with a single point stereo mic--not that I want that microphone, but it retails around eighty dollars if I'm correct. On a more positive note though, B&H has the m100 for 360 dollars, you just have to click on the 'email me a better price' link. So, in the end I wind up paying one hundred dollars more for a halfway decent microphone (that I probably could have built for around 5 dollars) and Mac compatible software--not too bad.

Is it possible to save some money and buy the MZ-rh10 and download the software that allows you to upload to a mac?

Does anyone know the button sequence for resetting the sharp mt-877? Thank you.

Hello all. I am wondering if there is any device that can transfer minidisc audio to my computer with lossless quality. I use field recordings in some sound compositions, but recording it through a mixer causes quality loss. I recently found a sony product that attaches to a computer through USB but it provided no information as to whether or not it could transfer minidisc audio recordings to the computer. I am aware of sony's new hi-md's that can transfer hi-md recordings to a computer, but I prefer taking field recordings with my dr-7 as it provides for real-time level adjustment. And, I use a Mac primarily, but I do have a desktop PC as well, so I would prefer something that is Mac compatible. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.
