I have a MZ NHF800 & my unit was also doing what you described & as you say it is a bit of a worry, my one would even play the last disc even when it was removed & there was nothing in the unit. But I was lucky because it was still under warranty & they fixed it up & I've had no probs since . I know this is no good to you but at least you know it's not an isolated problem. Stephen
