I agree. Mine is a manumatic and although it's a nice novelty (being able to "switch" from one to the other), my car accelerates faster in automatic mode compared to manumatic. But, the Jetta sure ungirlyfied itself. Looking good. The red accent on the grill is a nice touch. And, thumbs up on the black on black.

Not sure if there are any protectors specifically for the RH10, so you'd probably have to cut it to fit. I use the screen protectors for my Clie PDA on my remotes and digital camera screen. I just cut to fit and when they peel off, they don't leave any sticky residue. I'd suggest staying away from the ones with a matte finish. I tried a protector with that finish and it looked kind of cloudy and not as clear as the ones I use now. Good luck.

Yeah, the raves about the sound quality of the SR60 are everywhere. Unfortunately, they aren't as portable as I'd like (don't fold and I don't want to wear them around my neck) and the unique/retro look of the phones are kind of a turn-off for me. I'd definitely get these for home use, but right now, I'm in the market for headphones with a little more outside-home portability.

I haven't used my MD units for field recording yet, but it sure is nice to have the option. And the variety of MD units and looks makes you able to pick a player/recorder according to your needs and wants, although having all these unit choices sometimes makes it hard to pick one!

Yup. The Radio Shack one that I listed is for the US (sorry). I skimmed the post and missed that Toddz is from the UK. Weird punctuation always throws me off.

Yeah, it says so in the first few sentences of the article: "The MZ-RH1 (pictured, attached to a heart monitor) is set for release this month. You might have thought the format was dead, but MiniDisc is alive once more, and it deserves to be."
-
Happy Birthday, Stuge. Hope you get your DH10P to celebrate!
-
Stuge: If your MD unit is delivered to you in time, look away, hold up your DH10P, and take pictures.

^ Go with Ishiyoshi, or if you have access to a Radio Shack, they have AC adaptors that will work with 3V-7.5V requirements as well and cost around US$29. Here's one that someone from the forum suggested: RadioShack AC adaptor Check the "technical specifications" for details.
-
^ Lol. I wonder if people who see that article and don't know about Hi-MD actually think you can stick a plug of that size into the RH1.
-
Haha, no doubt. I went to Radio Shack to get an AC adaptor for my Japanese MD units. I asked the guy there about the different adaptors and he asked what it was for. I told him, "It's for my minidisc recorder." He goes, "Oh, those can make much better quality videos compared to the old 8mm camcorders." I haven't seen any 1gb discs anywhere around here either. Just the 80 min ones - Sony Colors at WalMart and Sony Gold and TDK at BestBuy. Congrats on your new Hi-MD!
-
Lol, you should sell your blanks to aethyrmaster to get the RH1 in both colors!! (jk) I'm seriously thinking about selling my designer blanks. Not out of the need for money, but they're just sitting on display collecting dust and taking up space. I'd rather they went to someone who'd appreciate them more. I'm surprised you have so many MD blanks considering you don't have an MD unit (yet - but DH10P is on its way). This should probably be put in a new thread, but out of my own curiousity, why did you start collecting MDs without a unit? Do you collect other removable media? Or were you collecting them in the hopes that someday you'd get an MD unit?
-
Hehe, easy there, Stuge. I wasn't talking about other people or Ebay buyers when I said "too bad." I was talking about me. Sorry if I offended you. Yeah, should I ever want to sell my blanks, Ebay is the best place to go. I've seen used (and some looking abused) designer and non-designer blanks going for much more than I'd ever buy them. There was a SINGLE, but sealed, Sony Hikaru MD that went for US$12+! You'd have to be a hard core MD collector or Hikaru fan to buy discs at that price. I'd rather use the money towards buying a new unit or headphones. But, it's nice to see that MD blanks hold almost as good a value as units.

Ooh, I second the plastic polish. I tried the toothpaste method that I read from this forum. Still saw the little scratches on my old N505's screen.
-
Those headphones and the price are so tempting. I'm also looking at the Audio Technica FC7. Decisions, decisions...
-
I should hope they aren't scratched considering how much you paid for them. I was going to buy a set like yours from a forum member (Ellen) until I found out they aren't sealed. I like blanks, but not THAT much. I prefer them wrapped. And any MD can be made blank - initialize disc.

LOL! You HAVE to see his "She Bangs" video if you haven't already. Link below. William Hung Videos

Too bad they're unwrapped.

Check out Ishiyoshi's thread on his gold NH1 (and others). His pictorials are always awesome! Ishi's champagne gold NH1

From what I've read and just comparing remotes, the US model comes with a generic, non-LCD stick remote while the Japanese model comes with a color-matching LCD remote (not sure if it can display Chinese though).

You won't be disappointed with the quality of the DR80. It's one of the sleekest that I own and the remote is nice as it has a record button and good backlight. I've seen them run for as low as $100-120 brand new in box on Ebay. Happy shopping!
-
I love both my DR80s for their sound quality and look, but they use NiMH, so I'm not sure if battery type matters THAT much to you. The one thing I don't like about the DR80 is that it is pretty cradle-dependent. And the cradle is not the most portable thing. I'm not sure how you'll use your recorder so this may not be an issue for you. If you can score an NH1 (comes with an awesome remote), I'd go with that. Or, if you can stand the wait, get the RH1.

Just based on looks, I think they are the same disc. When it was initially released, I believe there were 2 kinds of "sets," not discs -- Special Edition (Stuge) and Regular release (my pic and Ishi link). I just commented that the "set of four" that Stuge was talking about is very difficult to find as a set and plus, you don't need to track down that 4-disc Special Edition just to get Powerstation. Good luck!

20-MD Storage Case Pictorial-Review
jaylen replied to WaywardTraveller's topic in Product Reviews/Pictorials
Wayward: You are like the Mr Deals of MD. First the great price on your NE410 and now this. You should have a thread for all the stuff you've found for cheap - Wayward Deals. I think I'll head to my local Best Lie (lol) today to see if any MD-related things are on sale. That case would be good for work and good for "advertising" the format to my DAP co-workers.
