As promised I am back to tell the end of the history. My MZ-N707 returned from England perfectly fixed and working fine. The guy (Jim) has done a good work and a perfect feedback on what he did and why and how he did it. I highly recommend him to anyone with a broken down MD recorder. Ask him before sending a Hi-MD recorder. You'll find the list of the models he can fix on eBay. Nothing more to say. Just that you can trust him

I've just posted it today to England. I keep you informed.

Can you tell me more. How to join this guy ? Thanks a lot in advance. Regards.

I tried to read the disc on another reader (MZ-RH1) and I found that those tracks are not audible because they are nor recorded on the disc. The MZ-RH1 doesn't read them too ! Maybe my N707 is good for the bin. Thanks for your attention. Regards.

Hi, I'm using a MZ-N707 to record some audio books with Sonicstage. MP3 to LP4. The recording works fine, but

I'm trying to find an external charger permitting to charge these batteries

I'll do so in the future. Thanks a lot. Regards.

Well. I keep charging it even after the display/counter has shut off. Right ? The beeps sound when playing through external speakers connected to the remote. Thank you for your response. Regards.

Hi, you all. When charging the battery (empty or nearly empty) the RH1 started a 60 min cycle, until now. Curiously, now, it begins a 15 min cycle. After a while I can start another 15 min cycle and after another a new 15 min cycle for a total of 45 min. Rarely a fourth cycle to complete the 60 min. The battery is not an "exotic" one. It came with the RH1 about two years ago and has not been overused. Any idea ? Question : Do you know how to do to deactivate the beeps that sound before the RH1 stops when the battery is empty and the RH1 plays on external speakers ? Thanks for your attention. Regards.

It's not a RH-10 but a MZ-RH910. I use it on USB only when I burn music, using SonicStage. The time it remains connected is not very important. When I listen to it, I use three different batteries : 1- The SONY battery I found in the box (NH-10WM), 2- A GP battery (1450mAh), 3- An old Panasonic battery (600 mAh) which I had with a Panasonic Walkman (K7). All three work fine. All these batteries are charged with an external charger Voltcraft model "P-100 Audio" bought here in France. Regards.

Hi, all. My RH910 stops reading a disk when it has no reason to do so. Emitting some "beeps" as if the battery was empty (which is not the case). What happens to it ? I don't understand. Maybe a reset would fix that ? Can anyone help and tell how to do the reset, if possible. Or give a link to the place where I could find an answer. Thanks in advance for your attention.

All these problems seem (I do say "seem") to have been fixed by formating the disc directly in the RH1 using the command "format" in the menu. Not using the remote nor SonicStage. Maybe SonicStage be the faulty program ? Who knows ? Sony is dead. Regards and thanks to you all.

Other discs are perfectly read in both recorders. This disc is a quite brand new one. Blue Hi-MD by Sony. Maybe it has been corrupted by manipulating when trying to have it working. I don't know what could have happened.

A Hi-MD disc is not recognized by SonicStage 4.3. After a while trying to read/mount it, an error message appears and clicking OK closes SonicStage. This disc has been used one time. The same minidisc put in a RH1 or RH910 is not recognized an the apparatus shows a message indicating "Audio File Error" and then "Access Error". When I Try to record something with a mike the recording seems to begin and a few seconds after a message "Rec Error" appears. The recorders work fine with other MDs. Sometimes the screen shows a blinking message "Writing System Files" and after a while the recorder shuts off. I cannot initilize this disc as it is not recognized by SonicStage. Is it good for the bin... or has anyone an idea to "save" it ? Many thanks in advance for your help.

They were, but, after importing, their order in the library was different from the original/good one on the memory card. In the case of music this mix of tracks could have been acceptable... but it's an audio book ! Imagine reading a book that way ! All chapters in disorder. Sorting by "file path" allows to get the same order than the source files... and you listen to the book from chapter one to the last chapter. Thanks again to all who helped.

You wrote : "Try clicking on the "File Path"column heading, to sort them by file path. Does that solve your problem? " Your solution is the good one. Many thanks for your help.

When I import MP3 files, stored on a SD card, into the library, the order they appear in the library and are burned on the MD is different from the right order they are on the card. Is there anything I miss or is there a trick to have the same order in source files (SD Card) library and MD ? Thanks for your attention. I use SonicStage 4.3 and a MZ-RH1.

The pouch I was speaking about in this message : http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?s=&am...st&p=106402 is still going strong and perfectly fits my new RH1. Regards to you all.

Anyway, Sony are BASTARDS ! If they do so, of course

BTW, is it possible to "perform" this hack using the remote ? On the RM-MC40ELK, for example ? The keys are not that bigger but seem easier to find. Many thanks in advance for your responses... and experiences. Regards to you all.

Amps, better say mAh, is of no importance here. The more mAh you have, the longer last your batteries... That is, the quantity of current they can deliver is proportional to their "capacity" exprimed in "mAh". Hope this helps. Regards.

The RH1 needs 3.7 Volts (the voltage of the LIP-4WM battery). Four Ni-Mh deliver 5 Volts ! That's certainly the reason... a security function may disable the unit. Regards.
