Why am I not surprised. Seems to me, recording on flash memory is the way to go. Could Sony not easily transform their MD recorders? Stick a memory card in there instead of a disc? I had a look it this Zoom H4. It's pretty ugly, but the features are cool. The Boss mini also seems to be a cool gadget. But does anybody know what the sound qualitiy is like, if you use it as a player? I use my hi-md (RH10) as a player most of the time and sound quality is superb.

I've got an issue a cannot resolve with my RH10. It does not store the Custom 1 and 2 equalizer settings. The manual says that it should do that. I have disc memory switched on of course. And the machine is in Quick Mode. I bought my RH10 in the USA. Note that I also used the hack as described in the forum, because of the extended language support. Since I did not notice any differences after applying the hack, I returned the service mode values to their original setting, I think. Two values are in circulation for a USA machine: 20 and 21, and and tried both settings. This did not have any effect though. Did other people also notice this disc memory malfunction? Hi minidics users, I recently received my rh10 minidisc recorder. I'm generally impressed by the recorder but using the default equalizer setting I was not happy with the high frequencies. I have to boost the high frequencies to have a nice clear sound. Is it just me (or perhaps my ears)? I don't think it's me though because I'm also having an older model minidisc recorder (MZ-R700), without equalizer, and the sound of it really good, also the high tones, and I'm wondering now whether I'm having a defective recorder. My question to you is, do you also experience inferior high frequencies using default settings with the RH10? PS I recorded from a cd direct to my rh10 using hi-sp (i.e. ATRAC3plus 256).
