  1. Does anyone know if Sonic Stage would alert me if a read error occured while transfering my audio from a MiniDisc to my computer? Specifically, many CD rippers will just create wav files with skips in them if I was doing something else on the computer and was hogging all the memory. Is there any risk of this kind of thing happening with Sonic Stage transfers? To be clear, I'm not speaking about existing problems on the MiniDisc itself. Rather, problems that occur from screensavers turning on or opening files during a transfer. Thanks!
  2. Thanks for your help! This will all be quite useful. dex Otaku, your scenario makes sense, but it doesn’t explain why it wouldn’t let you just use the volume setting you last used. I mean, if you really like the automatic setting, there will be no need to ever change it. If you generally use the manual recording level, you’d only need to set it once when you first get the unit. The only time you’d need to change the setting each time is if you alternate between the two, which seems to be the least likely situation (and with the current method, you would still need to switch it half the time anyway).
  3. Wow, thank you for taking the time to put together this detailed analysis, dex Otaku! This is good news!
  4. Thanks for your help! Am I correct in thinking that this only happens at points where the volume dips below the threshold (I will be recording live concerts)?
  5. Thank you for your help! I have a few quick questions since the information I can dig up on this forum is scattered. Based on the discussions I've read, it seems that this issue may only occur on the NH900 unit. Is this true? Seccondly, it has been suggested that this is a problem with the HI-SP compression algorithm, so my understanding is that PCM recording should not be affected. Is this correct? Again, hank you for all your help!
  6. Hi there, I've been reading up on this site about how SonicStage causes a small repeat of audio at points where track markers were inserted during import. Has anyone found a cause or cure for this? Can it be avoided by removing all the track markers on the minidisc and then importing? Does this happen only when markers are inserted because the audio volume is very low or does it also happen when it inserts a new marker every 5 minutes. Is there any good way to get around this on the MZ-RH10 (I am very anal about my recordings)? Thank you for your help! Peace, Jason
  7. Greetings! I just bought the MZ-RH10 HiMD recorder and intend to use the line in it for recording live music with a preamped microphone. It seems that I can only set the recording level when I'm in recording pause mode and when I switch minidiscs, the recording level switches to automatic. This is going to be especially problematic if I am recording a longer show and need to switch discs part way through because I will need to spend time setting up the recording volume. Can you suggest any ways to help me work around this problem? Thank you! Peace, Jason
