  1. I just bought a new-in-box MZ-NH900 for a good price. It should serve my needs for in-field recording very well and that's all I need an MD for. Playing? My iPod does that extremely well. It might sound cruel, but MD's aren't as good as MP3 players, and therefore Sony realized that the only use for MD's are for recording purposes and so they optimized the RH1 for recording needs.. I voted "price drop".. should the price drop sub-200 euros, I'd buy it. Thomas
  2. Jacques, Thanks for your answer! I guess I can stop bugging the eBay-seller now Thanks! Thomas
  3. Low Volta - thanks for your answers =) I'd like to write a "First impression" article with pics from the point of view from a newbie to MD's as soon as I've got the Sony MZ-NH900 and gained some experiences.. Do you think the forum would like that? Thanks! Thomas
  4. Browsing ebay, I found a supplier who'll sell the NH-900 new-in-box, still sealed. Since money is an issue (I'm a student ) I can't afford buying a totally newly released unit that might cost around 350 Euros. And, time is kind of an issue. Right now, I'm in a very productive phase - every jam session sounds great! So - unfortunately- money and time is an issue. I'll save up more if the new unit has features that "One MUST have", but if the NH-900 does the job just fine with nice quality, I'm pretty satisfied with that! One question I have for you all though is: When I buy off ebay, how will Sony handle repairs? Will I have to send it to a repair center via post, or how is Sony's way of doing it? Thanks again! Thomas
  5. Hello ladies and gentlemen! I am a saxophone player, and my sax-teacher uses his MD-Recorder (Model slips my mind) to record his music via an external microphone. Since I don't want him to transport his valuable microphone all over the place to let me record a jam-session, I want my own MD-Recorder. I'll aim for a HiMD unit. The advantage in capacity is a good reason I have a Windows machine with (of course) a USB port + firewire port and a soundcard with a Line-in. So, which Sony model can you recommend me for my recording purposes? I have had a look at the Sony MZ-NH900 - NH800 and NH700, but can't decide. I might go for the NH900 since I can get it used for a nice price. I want to basically record stuff (in PCM), and then transfer it via USB -with decent speed - to my computer to work on the file as a WAV. Is there any quality loss, or any worth to mention quality loss during this process? And, I want to monitor the recording levels of course - is this all possible with the NH900?? Or is there another model out there, or will there be one soon that has better features? Many thanks! Thomas
