  1. yo, Justin42. HA! I love your balanced point of view of 'im sure it would work' and 'i wouldnt trust trying it'. Its the typical position that these tech companies put us in. Im probably gonna end up buying a Macbook just so i can buy the new minidisc machine. Not really the most cost effective way to go about things but....i guess im just a sucker for MD.
  2. has anyone out there ran the Sonic Stage programs on a new Intel MAC using the Boot Camp Beta(Windows XP enabling) program? Im still grasping at straws here trying to see if the MZ-RH1 is gonna be worth it to me without a PC. thanks.
  3. hello, mac user here. and ready to buy the MZ-RH1 as soon as i see it here in Italy. one thing seems unclear, maybe someone can clear it up. I thought one of the new features was being able to import old , normal md recordings made on old units. But, as i look on sites where it is for sale, i find this: USB uploading with MAC (using supplied Hi-MD Music Transfer software): Using the supplied Hi-MD Music Transfer software, you can do a high speed digital transfer of your Hi-MD recordings to your MAC computer. The audio data is automatically converted to unrestricted .WAV files. Note: Only LinearPCM, Hi-SP and Hi-LP self-recordings made with the MZ-RH1 can be uploaded. does that mean it can only upload old recordings using a PC, and that only recordings made on this unit (or another HI-MD) can be uploaded to a MAC? thats what it looks like to me, but i could be missing a lot of background info. thanks for the help.
  4. I dont think a car unit has to be made. But...a possible option is: A car unit with usb in, so that the normal radio controls can control the player. A home deck is needed for sure. And i dont know abot this pro, semi-pro stuff. any home deck should have all the features to make it viable for a pro. like: digital ins and outs as well as the usb and analog connections an input for keyboard to name tracks without computer or fumbling with little buttons. they might as well just throw a cd player on it as well so we can copy cd's to HIMD's easy. i mean, if things are gonna be new and improved they should have all of the features that all the previous toys had, plus the new features.
  5. Thanks. I didnt mean to SHOUT. i'm new to this posting stuff. but its very exciting to find so many people that care about the advances in MD technology. So....the NH-1 does seem like the best unit that has been made except: It only has headphone/line out. not optical. I have not found anything in print that says it funtions with a MAC this NEW unit does look very interesting. but i wonder how i ever will know how it works. I see on here that lots of people own many different recorders. And they all had to buy them to see how they worked, and find out the limitations. It seems you need 3 or 4 different units to do everything you want to do because of the diverse features. I cant afford that. Im still using an old unit but have used it less and less because it is such a pain to get the tracks on to my MAC. SO...it would be great if this new unit pleases a majority of MD fans, and i hope it is actually usefull enough to finally convince me to upgrade. I'll try not to complain anymore on this topic.
  6. THIS NEW UNIT DOESNT SEEM LIKE WHAT EVERYONE WANTS. WHO DESIGNS FOR SONY? WHO ARE THEY DOING MARKET RESEARCH ON? I would like, and i think most would like a player recorder with: DIGITAL IN AND OUT ALL ALUMINUM CASE VERY FUNCTIONAL REMOTE CONTROL OF RECORDING LEVELS ETC.... WE ALL KNOW WHAT WOULD BE PERFECT. WHY DO THEY CONTINUE TO MAKE MACHINES THAT ARE ALWAYS "ALMOST" WHAT WE WANTED.? this is why they are gonna be pushed to the side by I-Pod's. unfortunately.
