I am in Birmingham Alabama and just snagged my first Hi-MD a MZ-NH700 from these guys Minidisco. I was quite impressed in the communication and the fact that almost as soon as UPS left I got a delivery conferm email a FIRST for any of my on-line purchases!! The price was WELL under any other source so consider them highly recomended.

Looking at the MZ NH700 and have some questions on the Hi-MD format
Shreadhead replied to Shreadhead's topic in Minidisc
That sounds like a plan. I had my MZ-R37 stolen a few weeks ago from the Church Sound Desk and the MZ-R70 I have doesn`t sound as good on the recordings (BIG time clipping the pre maybe using the RS Atten on the mic imput will help for tomorrow ). I needed a reliable solution in the short term that was compatible to what I had but that still gave me access to the new format to try so I jumped . -

I needed a reliable unit ASAP for live recording as I play in a band that does a LOT of improv stuff. I ordered a NH700 today on-line from Minidisco. At $149 + shipping it was a STEAL and I don't think I will go wrong!! Thanks for the advice guys I`ll check out the new RH-1 a little later but needed something NOW ! -
The system at my home church has some SERIOUS bottom end thunder so I will need some attenuation for shure. This test was a worst case situation and it handled it well.I have to guess on the actual record levels as I am on stage playing when the full band is going. I will let you know how it turns out after tomorow.

I just bought one of the RS Attenuators. I sat my Mini disk in front of my Carvin MTS Half stack and recorded with the Attenuator at 50% and without crunched at about 3.5 on the volume. WOW sounded like a big F#@t without and was clean and clear with !! Thanks for this tip guys we run the FOH at my church at about 105db ( with 4000 in attendance and over 1500 of them SCREAMING teens it takes that at the least to be heard over the CROWD ) and I was getting substantial clipping with my MZ-R70 and stereo Panasonic mic set up at the sound booth( see attachment here [attachmentid=1537] from last sundays service as an example) . I can`t wait to try this on Sunday !! 3_12_06_COC_Better_Than_Life_.mp3

Looking at the MZ NH700 and have some questions on the Hi-MD format
Shreadhead replied to Shreadhead's topic in Minidisc
That is the one issue I had that was preventing me from jumping on the NH700. I have HUNDREDS of discs recorded, 2 home decks two portable recorders and a portable player. It makes no sense to scrap the whole system I have to go with a new format that isn't compatible with anything I have considering the long term survival questions on the overall MD foremat. No one I have talked to locally could answer that question. I will probably go for the HN700 knowing this now thanks. -
I am new around here and just found the forum.I have no one around here that is using the format that I can get info from and the only shop that has thenew format MD`s is my local Guitar Center. They know NOTHING about the units so here goes---.I have several earlier Min-Disc units (listed in my sig )will I still be able to use them if I go with the new format? Does the MZ-NH700 record in the old format so I can use what I have in my home decks if I want? What I use my MD mostly for is live recording when I am playing out with a band . I normaly don`t use more time than an 80 Min disk. I then label and store the disk for future referance or down load to my PC in real time using my optical out for a homemade CD of the performance. What would be the advantages/disadvantages of going to Hi-MD for me ??

How do you add a recording to an album to post in the gallery?? I added an album but there is no file attachment at the bottom of the screen like with a normal post . I posted a clip but can't seem to find a way to link them. the help section lists nothing on this so what am I missing??
