Thanks, Fishstyc. My problem is solved. Here's info for anyone else with similar symptoms. In SonicStage Version 3.1, the dropdown menu below "Transfer" never included "Hi-MD" (as you explained should appear) ... even after waiting several minutes ... and several reboots and reconnects to the recorder. I eventually managed to upgrade to Version 3.4, and this worked. Even this upgrade was difficult, because a straight install of 3.4 would not work (as explained in my earlier post) ... and <Control Panel> <Add or Remove Programs> would not delete Version 3.1, even after multiple reboots ... finally booted in Safe Mode, where I could delete Version 3.1 ... then Version 3.4 would install successfully ... and it DOES include the "Hi-MD" option under the "Transfer" drop-down menu. I recently bought an MZ-M100, in order to record live rehearsals with pretty good quality ... as I understood from the salesman that it would record uncompressed .wav files. Now I want to move files from the recorder to my computer (with Windows XP) for .wav file editing. But I'm having trouble transfering the files to the computer, using SonicStage (Version 3.1, which came with the machine). Per the instructions, I put the mouse pointer over "Transfer" on the upper right ... and as soon as I hover over this button, the name changes from "Transfer" to "Create an Audio CD" (with a pull-down menu below). The instructions say that a question re Hi-MD and a list of tracks should appear ... these things do not happen. A message also appeared upon making the USB connection that there was no disc in the recorder ... this was not true ... and I can see the files fine on Windows Explorer (where the recorder's contents appear as a drive called "Removable Disk") ... but I assume the .hma files here are useless unless converted by SonicStage ...and I have not tried to move anything in Explorer, in order to avoiding messing up SonicStage. I also tried downloading Version 3.4 from your site, but this won't install right ... it seems to get mostly installed and then the install just quits ... without replacing 3.1. Any tricks to figuring out how to get the "Transfer" button to work? Or can I just move files via Explorer and is there some way to convert .hma to .wav without bothering with SonicStage? (For that matter, why is the format anything other than wav to start with? It's supposed to record in wav format.) Thanks! - Andy
