I was thinking about matching mic capsules to make a stereo pair, and how much of a pain it is to solder the capsules to the cable, then check if they match, then detach if necessary, etc. etc. (is there an easier way?) and I got to thinking that maybe it'd be easy to make a fitting for each side (L and R) that you could solder onto a cable, and then the tiny electret mic capsules could be placed into these so that all the contacts connected up - just like a lightblub fitting but for tiny electret mic capsules. This would also be heaps easier than soldering the cable to the mics, and would do away with the risk of heating up the mics too much during soldering. I'm thinking that maybe some screws could be put into the sides so that a range of capsules sizes can be held. the tricky bit will be making sure that all the contacts line up properly. Any thoughts? Hopefully I'll get a chance to try something out this weekend.
