Hello all I have a big issue about my HI-MD PC connectivity: Last week I bought a MZ-RH910 Hi-MD unit and im very happy with it, except for one thing, the damn software won't recognize the device IN MY PC. It does wonders in every body else's computers, but not in mine. (I'm talking about my office PC, and everyone else have the same setup as i do). I've been looking for an answer everywhere, but seems im the only one with this kind of problem. Here's what happens after a clean instalation of the software on my pc: -I connect the hi-md device to the pc via USB. -The simpleburner minidisc tray icon turns red, and windows opens a folder window (drive G: ) so i can play with files in it (this confirms that the PC does recognize the device and that the USB ports are working fine). -I open SonicStage and click the tranfer tab. All kind of options(Create a MP3 CD, create an ATRAC CD, etc) appear, but not the HI-MD option!! -I close sonicstage and open simpleburner to give it a try, and it closes with the following message: NetMDSB.exe has encountered a problem blah blah blah and will close blah blah blah -I try to open the simpleburner thing again and it greets me with a message that says something like: "a fatal error has ocurred, try rebooting and if the problem persists reinstall the software" (needless to say i have rebooted and reinstalled the thing countless times) -I curse sony -I go to a buddys pc to transfer his library to my himd, since i cannot. Im growing tired of using sombody else's pc to transfer stuff back and forth to my minidisc. As you may guess, i've tried everything short of formating the damn pc, and nothing will work. Here's some of the things i've done: -After my first unsuccesful install, i've uninstalled the whole thing (yes, manually deleting files and registry entries as well, as suggested here: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=8071) and reinstalled all kind of sonicstage versions. -I've tried all kind of combinations with my suplied software (sonicstage 3.0) and the latest online version (sonicstage 3.4) -I've even tried to disable all kind of startup registry keys, so other apps wont interfere with the MD drivers (like my nokia pcsuite apps) Im running Windows XP professional, service pack 2, BTW. I know there's something wrong with my setup. Probably i need to delete a few extra keys from the registry and reinstall the whole thing, or maybe reinstall some drivers from the device manager... but which ones??? Please help this man in desperate need. -Gabriel.
