The is an article on the MZ-RH1 on www.sony.co.uk. But as all the discontinued products (i.e. all other Hi-MDs) are also shown, this could mean anything. Will it allow timed recording? That’s something I really want. Surely it would be easy to make the firmware allow the thing to start recording when external power is supplied? For me that would justify the cost, almost whatever it turns out to be. Otherwise, I think I may buy a couple from ebay, and hope they last till something else comes along.

Would love a deck. My MDS-JE530 is still very much in use for timed radio recording. If only it could do more than ~2.5 hours mono. Have Sony pulled the plug on MD in Europe? I can't find a new Hi-MD anywhere here in the UK. Discontinued I'm told (by phone and online). France and Germany Amazon reports no stock as well. The RH1 sounds nice, but at what cost? I really want a cheap portable and a deck with timed recording and optical out. Will I be back to using cassettes this time next year?
