  1. Just did, and it worked fine uploading it to my Mac! Curiouser and curiouser... still just says "End" when I try to play back on the MZ-RH1 itself. Since Sony didn't know what was up I guess I'll just have to wait till Wednesday when SoundPros get back in the office.
  2. Nope, haven't even gotten that far. I'm just trying to play the disc in the machine itself; shouldn't it be able to play its own discs back? I'm going to try to install the Mac software now.
  3. Hi, All, Just got the fabulous MZ-RH! (my first minidisc player) and recorded a concert; played back about a quarter of it, then stopped the machine. When I tried to play the rest, I got an "End" message. Two levels of Sony techs couldn't figure it out this morning on the phone, so they recommended I go to y'all for recourse. I'm sure it's just something little that I am too ignorant to know about, but it's frustrating! I push the Ent button on both remote and machine itself, and get the End message as well as what must be the remaining minutes left for recording; then it goes dark. Even when I hold it down. I've removed the disc and put it back in, tried the rewind and forward buttons on the remote, all to no avail. Any ideas? Sound Pros are closed till Wednesday and I can't wait to hear the recording! Thanks in advance! HB
  4. Has anyone tried the Hi-MD Music Transfer 1.0 software for Macintosh that comes with the first release of the MZ-RH1? I'm looking at the manual pdf online (thanks for the link!), and the list of included "accessories" on p. 9, in addition to the Hi-MD Music Transfer for Mac software on the CD-ROM. includes "Mac Music Transfer 'operating instructions'"; on p. 18 it's called a "Hi-MD Music Transfer for Mac instruction sheet,'" that I'd LOVE to see. Re: Upload/download limitations: Since we'll be using the MZ-RH1 solely to record live music performances to transfer to our Mac via USB (and then make aiff or mp3 CDs from those files thru Toast 6 Titanium software), will the upload sopftware that accompanies this first MZ-RH1 release work OK for us? We won't be sending any output back from the Mac to the MZ-RH1; it'll be strictly used for recording and a little playing (until we transfer the files only). Also, I note in the MZ-RH1 manua some talk of wrapping wires around tiny ferrite cores, attaching clips, etc. It said that you should do this if you want to record. This was a tad intimidating to this newbie... more info, please? And I note that Sound Pros have upped the price on the waiting list! From I believe $319 to now $348! Arrgh! We here in NorCal are waiting; tempted to hunt down a Japanese model, but don't want to pay premium price; $348 is bad enough! And what's about this (hopefully idle) rumor that Sony WON'T be releasing it at all? Thanks for all the advice; do appreciate it and can't wait for this machine!
  5. I'm in rural northern California, in the U.S., so I'd probably be buying online or on eBay. I saw an MZ M10 for $280 (ouch!) this morning on eBay. If I get that, that probably precludes external mic/battery pack for now, so I hope the mic is adequate for loud shows (the band isn't head-banging, ear-splitting punk, but alt. country with drums, so it does get loud). How does the MZM10 compare price/feature with MZ-M100 and RH1? All we need is bare-bones GOOD QUALITY recording; no bells, whistles, cameras, radios, etc. necessary. Thanks so much for your expertise! Much appreciated.
  6. I'm a tech-moron newbie who needs to buy a Hi MD for recording my band's live concerts and rehearsals. I've read a lot of posts here and it seems that MZNH700 or perhaps RH1 or 10 or 910 might be useful--but we use Macintosh exclusively and wondered about limitations (have been reading posts about no Mac software) for downloading to our Macs. And can they be used with an internal mic, or is it best to buy an external and battery pack? And why the battery pack if I need only a couple of hours? I have about $200 (if that) to spend; could go over but would like to go under. I read Low Volta's intriguing post about choosing a cheaper model and going with SP binaural mics and battery boxes to power mics through line-in at loud shows but would be delighted with some specific recommendations for equipment (went to the page recommended and couldn't quite figure out the "package" available. Thanks SO much for any help you could offer; this forum is just what I need.
