Now I'm making progress. But since you're here, let me ask about transferring recordings using USB. It looks like I have to install Sonic Stage on my PC first. Is that right? I'm downloading it from the Sony site, but am wondering why I'd need a full-fledged program when most devices are simply recognised by Windows. From what I see here, it looks like I've got to use the audio output (headphone) and record it using my recording software (Nero/Audacity/etc). It's not an 'upload' per se, but a re-recording. It'll have to do... In that case, why bother with Sonic stage?

Hi, I 've borrowed the above device from a friend. I haven't got a user's guide, and am wondering where to get info about using the thing! I tried searching the Sony website, but it's *&$%£ useless! Can you point me to a user's guide?
