I was in a similar position but was advised that the Sharp DM-R2 is a virtual clone machine. The manual is downloadable from www.minidisc.org/manuals/sharp/ABBA_Mdr2.pdf and so far I've found that the instructions do seem to work. The remotes are also apparently interchangeable. I haven't been able to find a proper user manual for the Kenwood. Jandss
