As Jaylen pointed out through his(?) link, yes it will. I was in your exact same situation with an AM/FM only tuner remote and an australian version of NHF800. The radio tuner is inside the remote. Note that you cannot make a non-radio MD into a radio-enabled one: the connector is shaped differently. As for the reception quality of TV and Weather, it is reasonable to expect a faint signal. For me weather channels can only be listened in a quiet area, not outside on a busy city street, even tough I'm only a few miles from a Weather transmitter (in Montreal, Canada).
