  1. Reaper is now my favourite audio editing app for concert material and for speech editing too. www.reaperaudio.com - about a 1Mb download, $40 for non-pro use, but you can take as long as you want to evaluate it. Some of the recently added editing features really are superb. And ReaBurn, a third party app you can track down on the Reaper site, handles the CD burning side of things. If you tried earlier versions and didn't stick with it, look again.

Thank you ALL....I appreceiated....My recording has too much bass,,,,,so I will try the software try to edit it....

  2. I was basing the 20 bits on this link, to the Analog-Digital converter in the RH1,

    http://www.analogzone.com/avp_0804.htm

    from this post:

If it's only 16-bit I stand corrected. And if CD's are only 16-bit then there is no question that MD is "CD-quality."

I listned to my recording(pcm) converted to WAv last night. The sound quality is good as compared to a profeesional piano cd(by Yundi lI)....except, my recording is much closer but TOO much bass????

Do you guys got any idea that what sound soft ware I should use that can improve the treble end before the final version.

    Thanks

  3. thamks pal. Micro phone is the PR2 d417 , 600ohms and freq 50-15000khz(I think)

PCM recording will give you a CD-quality reproduction of what goes into the unit.

But everything depends on the input: the microphones, where they are placed, how good the settings are. Once you have the recording, you can adjust some things with sound-editing software like Audacity, which is free.

    http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/windows

With that, under Effects, you can bring out various registers (EQ), even out the volume (Normalize), filter out some kinds of noise, etc.

But processing afterward is never as good as getting it right going in.

Can you provide more information on your microphone? Maker, specifications, etc?

Remember, you are not recording in a studio with studio-quality microphones and all the effects available through a studio console, so it's not going to sound like a Coldplay album. But with proper miking you should be able to get a good, accurate reproduction of the music you are playing.

Big thanks for that. Do you think the sound blaster card audigy 2 nx has a better cd quality than minidisc???

  5. How many minutes of music are on the disc? .wav takes (very roughly) about 10 MB per minute. So if you recorded in .wav, you'll need 800MB (80 percent of your 1GB disc). If you recorded in Hi-SP, you'll have a lot more once it's converted to .wav: 6.4 hours = 384 minutes = 3.84 GB. I don't even want to think about how many GB you'd need for a Hi-LP disc.

You don't have to convert everything to .wav immediately. You can upload in the compressed formats and then convert the tracks you want to keep into .wav later.

thanks for that. So I need around a 10 g hd

  6. Hi guys, do you have any idea that if I did 80% recording spaces using HIMD 1 gb mini disc and upload to my computer to sonic stage(v4) and convert to WAV files? How much hard drive space do I need to take those 80% space from the 1 GB minidisc?? or I should just do 20% usage and use a new disc?

Or its alomost the same as the 1G (converting astrct to Wav files)?

My MD is Mz hr 800.

    Thanks

  7. Install either 3.4 (offline version available here in the dowload section) or 4.0 CP (From Sony Connect Store). If you haven't used v2.x yet, just skip it, you'll be glad saving some frustation with all the DRM stuff. Plus, converting to wav has been integrated with Sonic Stage.

thanks you very much. You are a great helper. Iwill try it out this weekend,

    Thanks again.

  8. Hi there, I just bought a minidisc nz800 from minidisc.com.au and its working well for my live piano recording.

The seller recommends me to upgrade the sonic stage (v2.3)so I can covert PCM files from MD to computer then burned on the cd.

Can anyone tell me which sonic version should I use(australia) and please tell me the procedure because I am dumb and new to this file conversion.

Eg live recording-MD > to computer > convert files to wav /to CD

    Your help is much appreciated.

    Thanks
