HELP! My minidisc is broken, came up with a read-error last night and won't play anything - tried 3 different discs. It is also making a very different sound when trying to read the discs. Sounds like it is having trouble moving the read/write head. Any idea what is wrong and how much it is likely going to cost to repair? Or is it time to throw it in the bin and go and buy a solid state MP3 player?

HELP! My Minidisc player has just failed after 2-3 years of great use. It suddenly sounds different when it is accessing a disc, it sounds like it is having trouble moving the read/write head. I've tried 3 different discs in it and the symptoms are the same regardless. It won't play and the menu never appears, just spins the disc making a noise. Any help would be appreciated.

I use my MZ-NH600 a lot when camping with external speakers. The ones I've got don't have very good volume and as everyone knows the volume limit from the MiniDisc player is very limited. Can anyone suggest some good external battery operated speakers that can carry a decent sound quality and volume?
