OK, slightly less clueless now. It occurred to me that it wasn't nearly as hard to try running as admin as reinstalling SS4.0 from a Pacific site. It's downloading stuff beautifully now. So, suggestion 1: add to the FAQ that SS may not work right if you're not the adminstrator in XP. Suggestion 2: Anybody have a clue as to what privleges need to be there for non-admins so that SS4.0 will work in XP? I know I was set up as a power user in my normal account, but that's apparently not enough.
