Er, I got a NW-E505 a coupla months back, from a Best Buy in Michigan, and it's been working GREAT untill I tried to install the firmware update. I clicked on the thing, and the percentage bar got to 99%, but I then got a "Something or other has timed out" or something like that, and the screen on my MP3 player was blank. I closed down the download box, and my MP3 player wouldn't turn on, so I tapped the RESET button in the back. It turned on then, and displayed the DATA ACCESS screen for about three seconds, and then switched to another screen that said MEMORY ERROR, and it displayed NO songs (I had the thing almost full) but had a screen where Network Walkman was the artist, and no song title. I tried to switch tracks, but it said MEMORY ERROR again, and so I decided to try formatting it (That was the first time I had gone into the format screen, I didn't know what it did) and I hit the Play button over OK? It displayed the Formatting screen for about one second, and then flashed back to the FORMAT screen. It still didn't have the songs back. Windows(98SE) sees the drive, but Sonic Stage doesn't. I REALLY need some help here. By the way, this is my first post, and some of the other things I've read on the site seem very helpful. Good job. I'd be glad for ANY help. Thanks in advance.
