  1. I've solved it. I just had to place a piece of thick paper inside the unit, between the metal structure and the magnesium front cover, on the left side (so basicly under the screen) now it is all fine. It was funny, becouse when I took it apart and removed the spring which is used to open up the MD when you unlock the cover, it was working. both analogue and USB. Perhaps it was too tense (the spring) or something was dented inside, so the disc was to far from the optical head.
  2. Well, I have been toying whith the device, and it seems, that there is a different error. I am able to record now via line-in and USB also. I had to take off the front houseing (the one with the LCD) and I bypassed the spring eject mechanism, this way, there is no spring force which would "push" the disc (with the cover) upwards. Therefor, I guees the problem is, that the houseing is dented (even if it is not visible) and the sping can move the disc further from the laser head than as it should be. So the problem is derived from a mechanical defect. I hope this theory will be proven to be true (I will test the unit now with lots and lots of recording) and I will keep you guys updated, just to enlarge the knowledge base of this forum
  3. It looks absulotely intact, not like the one on the picture. I will use a multimeter to measore on it.
  4. Hi guys! Too bad, that my first post here has to be connected to a problem. I have been using MD-s for years without any major problem but this one give me a headache. The unit is somewhat 3 years old (1.4 version) and the problem is connected to recording: - with SS and SimpleBurner I can only record tracks which are shorter than 1:42 (in LP2), otherwise it will not work. Sometimes it works (1 out of 100) with longer tracks. When this happens, SS gives me an error that XY song was unable to transfer, and it returns and shows the disc contents as they are, it keeps to be in sync with the MD. - the same thing happens with line-in too, about the same length i get the MEM OVER error, and my recording is gone. - TOC edit takes ages to be completed, and sometimes it is not succesful. - in service menu I there are no errors recorded. Do you think that I should try to replace the ribbon cable that goes to the MO head?
