  1. Well I eventually got fed up of the tracks skipping, I re-initialised the player, then tried to do the error checking etc. Only problem is my player seems to have a more severe problem than yours... Once scanning begins the device conks out and becomes unrecognised by windows. In fact it now doesn’t like being written to at all, connecting it to the computer is fine, but as soon as I try to access the player or use any software that manipulates it, it conks out... Can’t scan for errors or put music back on it if I can’t access the player... Oh dear, looks like the £72 repair fee for me...
  2. I have just run into the same problem myself after my player was dropped. I was going to try to initiate the player, but seeing that didnt work for you I shall avoid the hastle, thanks. I have rang Sony about the problem and they state they do not know (or at least the advisor on the phone didnt know) and said to send it back. For the minimal charge of £70 that I was quoted on the phone I'm not going to bother sending it back. I don't how severe your problem is, but I only get the skipping on 30ish% of my albums(and its always the same ones!), so im just going to put up with it.
  3. A similar problem has been posted before but it did not receive a reply, so i was wondering if anyone else had run into the problem and solved it. Basically my HD5 device got dropped by an uncareful friend and since then whenever I connect the device to any computer, although it recognizes the device to begin with, (and windows autoplay kicks in) after 20 seconds or so an error message comes up on in the bottom right-hand side of the task bar that the device is not recognized. The strange thing is on a few occasions I have been able to plug it in, access a few files, then the non recognition message comes up, but have not had this for a while. Has anyone any idea what has gone wrong with it?
