nevermind, I found the answer: anyone have a link to a DIY 'shoestring budget' preamp to go along with this greenmachine project? (which is very cool by the way)

will this design work for recording quieter sounds? i.e. wind instruments, crickets, talking voices... nice article, looks cool. i have a neuros (20gb hard drive) with line in, looking for a portable mic for foley work, and strange sounds for music samples on a shoestring budget of course
