  1. Yes...although, in order to get all 4 RCA connection points, my only option was to hook it to TAPE #2, (on the receiver) which is fine, I guess, because it works, and it was available. And according to a tech. rep. @ CRUTHFIELD I talked to said that conn. point will be fine. And the only plus here is, There is no equalizer. I kinda thought the old car owner (which by the way, he showed me the home deck he used, I didn't catch the model #, but it looked exactly like the one I bought) had some sort of "BOOSTER" or something that gave his disc's that extra kick that I'm not getting? I just don't understand, gotta go to work...I'll check back later, or tomorrow. thanks.
  2. I would except my receiver does not have an optical connection...at least not one that will accept the cable that came with the MDS-JE480, any other suggestions? is there a setting on the deck that I am forgetting? OR would I be better off selling this model and buying one of SONY's portable player/recorders? you know, going thru my computer instead??? THANK YOU - "A WHOLE LOT"
  3. The only way to relay my problem is to try and describe what is goin' on. I recently bought a used car that has an MD deck in it, don't remember the whole model #, but it ends in 5970, it's a SONY. And I have never encountered an MD deck before, so, I asked the guy if he would give me a few disc's to get me started...which he did. This car has at least two Amp's, one for the deck, and one for the sub-woofer, in the trunk. when playing the disc's that he gave me...they really ROCK the house (so to speak), I mean great volume and great bass. So, then I went and bought the home deck (SONY model MDS-JE480) to record some more for the car. Here's my problem/question...I recorded a few disc's, I tried to MAX out the recording level, but made sure not to RED LINE it. When I play the one's I made...they play o.k., and they sound o.k. But they do NOT rock the house? the car deck has the D-BASS function, when playing the one's the former owner gave me I usually leave it off, or maybe setting # 1. cause there is plenty of bass at those settings, but when playing the disc's I made...I can turn the D-BASS to #3 and it is if there is no sub-woofer at all, the volume is not the same, and the bass is almost non-existant, I asked the former owner how he got such awesome volume from his recording...and all he said was there must be a setting on my home deck that maybe turned off?? or my new home deck is defective? He said he never had that problem...does anyone know what might be wrong?? ANY help would be greatly appreciated...thank you very much for your time.
  4. to sector001...sorry man! I thought that was a picture of you! to bluecrab...no, no just the cleaner disc, not a playable disc. Like I said...just hoping to do some preventitive maintenance, If all the research I've done says NOT to use the MD-6LCL/MD-8HCL in the car, then I won't !!! I spose if the car deck starts F'in up, I will worry about it then? I am still waiting to receive my home deck (SONY-model #MDSJE480) from AMAZON, does it matter if I record/play a HI-MD disc in what I think is a standard MD recorder/player? or is it just a waste of time and money??? thanks y'all...I'll check back later...........
  5. Hey...no my car deck is working fine, I just assumed, if they make them for the home deck...you would think there should be one for the car. I am merely trying to do some preventitive maintenance. Does anyone know of such a (cleaning) disc? I talked to a sales rep @ "CRUTCHFIELD" who told me not to use the home disc's in the car...and most other web sites say the same. thanks. P.S. Your very pretty
  6. Hey y'all. try to make this short...would like to say I really like the MD format!!! I just bought a used car that has the MDX-C5970 deck. Talked him into giving up a few disc's to get me started... works great. I have been doing tons of research for a head cleaner for this unit. I also need to tell you I just ordered the home deck model ????-?480. (because I thought all the portables were to expensive and frankly, I don't need it to be portable, I just wanted the 480 to record for the car deck.) ANYWAY...I've seen the MD-6LCL and the MD-8HCL, I know one does the head, and the other the lens. it's my understanding that I should not use either in the car? therefore what do I use for the 5970????? Is there such a cleaner disc for the car??? Or do I have to clean it's head(s) by hand...if by hand then how and with what type of solution? where to buy the cleaner disc, etc... THANKS FOR YOUR TIME !!!
