Greetings fellow minidiscers! Finally found a forum on which to share my troubles:) Basically my beloved minidisc collection has been sitting idle for years waiting for its rebirth... I've always used portable minidisc players to record and listen. All my minidiscs are recorded - a lot long play 4. I noticed a long time ago that some of my minidiscs started to have intermittent 'stops'.. Always at the same points. The music would play .. The track recording would somehow stop and only catch on a few seconds later.. Soon this could turn into a fully blown stop where the track just couldn't find itself... Some minidiscs this is in most of the music recording, in others just some parts. The thing is, is that the discs are clean, really well looked after.. And it's supposed to be digital, so how can it 'skip'/'stop' intermittently like that!? I'm not sure if it is the machine, or the minidisc.. Could it be that a more powerful laser from a large home machine will eliminate the discrepancies of a smaller and more weaker device? If it's the minidisc itself, how can I fix it and salvage the music??! Also- my aim is to transfer all md music to digital MP3. Would anyone have any advice on how to best approach this!!? My thanks in advance - I've only just found this forum, and think everyone here appreciates the true value of their unique music collection- not cd recordings but from the radio- much of it pirate radio- and this will never repeat!!! Thanks:) Chris
