alex945
Last year I bought a minidisc from sony (mz-nf610) and got sonicstage 1.5 with it. First I used it at my old computer with windows 2000 but when I got a new computer with windows xp sonicstage didn's work anymore, everytime I tried to to put music on the musicdrive (from where you can put it on the minidisc) the program got jammed. I tried a few things like disabeling the firewall and updated sonicstage to 2.0 but with 2.0 the program didn't even start because it says everytime 'Updating sonicstage database please restart sonicstage after updating has completed' and when you restarted the program it says the same thing. Anyone has a idea what's wrong. greetz alex
RandomHero
You have to completely uninstall the software and re-install version 2.2. To completely remove all files and registry entries check out this thread.

Qwakrz
There is a post about an XP patch for the common access modual (database driver) that has a bug under XP (search the forums for the thread, I know I have reccomended it before either here or on minidisct.com). It may be worth putting all the windows updates on your PC and trying again. AFAIK the update is under the non critical section on the windows update site. Christopher
Welcome, alex. So you're 100% sure that you followed the EXACT directions according to this: 1. Uninstall all OpenMG related software via the Add/Remove Programs control panel and reboot as necessary. This includes, but is not limited to, OpenMG 2.2, related 'Limited Patches' and the 'Secure Module', SonicStage 1.x/2.x, Simple Burner 1.x/2.x, and software by RealNetworks. Make sure that you unplug your unit before doing so. 2. If you run Windows XP/Windows 2000 Professional, proceed to delete the following directories: "Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataSony Corporation", "Program FilesCommon FilesSony Shared", "Program FilesSony". [>>ed. note: require input of win9x/ME users about directories, someone please go bug "kurisu" about this until he forwards it over to me or he edits it himself - iceeedtea] 3. Start -> Run -> regedit. The 'Registry Editor' utility should appear on your screen. Delete the references to OpenMG located under 'HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareSony Corporation' and 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareSony Corporation' by right-clicking on the entries. 4. Disabling any anti-virus software that is running in the background to free up some resources [if necessary]. Update your installation of Windows at Microsoft Windows Update (windowsupdate.microsoft.com). For Windows 2000 Professional users, you are recommended to upgrade to Service Pack 3 or later. Make sure that your unit is disconnected and install the latest build of SonicStage 2.x from Sony Connect/Sony Connect Europe. The drivers for Sony units will automaticaly be installed. (If you use a Panasonic or Sharp Hi-MD/NetMD unit, install your drivers before you install the actual software!) Restart if prompted to do so; if not, it is still recommended that you do so. Plug in your unit, and start SonicStage 2.x. Please try it again.
alex945
Thanks for the replies but sonicstage still doesn't work. I have installed the new windows updates and I deleted everything from sonicstage then I installed sonicstage 1.5 which again got jammed and when I tried to shut it down it said 'Omgjbox.exe does not respond' so again I deleted sonicstage and I tried sonicstage 2.2 and again the same thing happend as before. I also called the sony helpdesk who were of course very helpfull, not They said that they couldn't help me and that I had to try it at the local sony dealer. Tomorrow I'm gonna try it at the sony dealer but till then does somebody have a idea because i'm getting pretty mad because I can't put any music on my MD. greetz Alex
Christopher
nonono, when you uninstall everything [which I don't think you're doing correctly], just install Sonicstage 2.2 only. No 1.5. Where are you located, anyways? If you're in Europe, please download from www.connect-europe.com.
alex945
Yeah I live in Europe and I also have the European version of sonicstage but it still doesn't work. Also I have tried to uninstall ( i have searched the whole computer for sonictage stuff and deleted it)everything and just install sonicstage 2.2 but without succes, it still says "updating sonicstage database" Do you know if there is another program to transfer music from you're computer to the minidisc.
