Nikola
Hi I find it hard to keep the "door" of my Sharp DR470H (a.k.a. DR7) closed. Recently, the unit has become very sensitive to touch: sometimes even picking it up from the table gently with two fingers is enough for it to spring open. With the disk springing out, of course, and the warning beep. I suppose there's something wrong with the locking mechanism. And no, I did not treat it bad in any way - I keep it in a special soft bag on my belt. And it's only 18 months old. Needless to say, out of warranty. Did anyone have a similar problem? Is there something I should tweak instead of running to the nearest service center (and paying arm & a leg)? Thanks for any helping suggestions Nikola
Christopher
Hm. I was just taking a look at my DS8 and the only thing I could fathom, regardless of their differences, is the hinge. Does it look secure?
Nikola
Thanks for taking the time to reply. The hinge looks to be OK. However, I noticed the following: when the lid is being closed, apart from the vertical movement down to the body, it also shifts a tiny bit aside before snapping in place. I don't think it's normal. Another closer look inside made me think that it's the small hook that locks the lid is a bit loose. Hard to say how normal is this, because the hook is a moving part however... But the first thing I'd assume is the hook not working as it should: move it a tiny bit aside, and the spring pushes the lid open.
Christopher
I would suggest you take it to a parts centre. Attempting a repair on your own will probably end up doing more harm than good.
