Truth_Seeker1
Hey all, I have an MZ-NH1 and really need one of two things: A. for the recorder to be able to charge itself through the USB connection, or: B. a cable that, on one end, plugs into the recorder, and on the other end, has a USB connector (for transferring recordings) and a power plug (for recharging). This is preferred. Any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Drew
dex Otaku
None of the HiMD units can recharge batteries while being used, whether via USB or standalone. In SonyThink, the cable you're asking for wouldn't really have a purpose, since they can't think in terms of the convenience a single cable would offer for those who, say, travel - and find carting the cradle et al around to be a pain. If I'm not mistaken, the connector on the NH1 is completely non-standard and you won't find anyone other than Sony who could do anything with it. But I might be mistaken. I don't have one, myself. aeriyn
what he wants might not be hard to do. the bizzare USB cable that Sony uses has extra pins used for the charging of the unit. if someone could mate up a NH1 USB cable with a 6vDCin AC adapter... ... I don't think it'd be hard to do, if you could identify the extra pins.
Truth_Seeker1
So that funny connector is the USB pins plus two pins for power/charging? Well anyway, what I really need is some way to recharge it while I am away from home and without the charger base.
Truth_Seeker1
Also, what recorders exist that use standard AC/DC plugs, can upload to a computer, hopefully use the new HiMD disks? Even better, a recorder that can be used with a remote with a record button on the remote?
fuz
if it's any help, i tossed around something very similar like this for my N10.. the connector has like, a dozen pins of which i managed to figure out what they were. The battery box also has the same connector, so i slid back the plasticky sheath and read out the voltages.. there was a 1.1v connector and a 6v connector from memory along with the four USB pins (gnd, +5v, data1, data2) If you plugged it into the PC via the USB cable and crossed the 5v and 6v pins (thus sorta powering it..) you'd get the red charging light and battery charging indicator. I know i know, its somewhat crazy, but it seemed to work.. I *was* going to make a permanent mod and do some other things, but i got an NH900 instead. The point of this is that if it was possible on the N10, i'm sure its in the same vein as the NH1... interestingly enough, this was one of the reasons i instead went for the NH900 as its part of my mobile rig. Cradles arent mobile.
Truth_Seeker1
yeah, Sony's logic seems twisted. Come on, us laptop users want *almost* everything to be mobile!
