Day Dreamer
I recently bought a MZ-NH600. And I love the thing. The sheer volume of music you can get on one hi-md disc is incredible( i usually use Hi-lp, I experimented, and couldn't really tell that much of a difference from Hi-Sp), the sound quality is wonderful, placing music on an Md is fairly painless. Simple burner is just that, gloriourly simple, and Sonic Stage, while annoying in certain respects, has not caused me the trouble other have mentioned. Battery life is long, on one standard AA. The player is infinitely reliable. Plus, it's cool, in two respects: first, it's original. Second, people constantly come up and ask me what it is. I wish i could say I hadn't dropped it, but, one day as I was walking, the thing slipped out of my hand, bounced on the pavement, and into the dirt. I picked it up, dusted it off, and, excepting a small scratch on the plastic on the bottom left corner, it was fine. Plus, It didn't skip the whole time... I reached down to try and catch it, and so the headphoneswere not yanked out of the player. In short, though I will go with a higher end player next time, I love this little thing. And thanks to you guys, for helping me get through the "newbie" stage. EDIT: My only negative experience was with the connect music store. the unit came with a card loadied with 5 free downloads, but when i tryed to redeem them, it said it was a duplicate. Emailed sony, was given a pre-assembled resposne, tryed again, got same response, said "screw it" and gave up. To give you an idea of the capacity, i currently have a hi-md disc with 290 songs at Hi-Lp, and still have 350 mb of the Disk's 1024 mb left. aeriyn
Moving to correct forum... Eww... 64kbps encoding. If you listened to your Hi-LP recordings with a good set of cans, you better believe you'd be able to tell it from Hi-SP. With my cans (beyerdynamic dt440) I can tell PCM from 292kbps ATRAC 4.5. All joking aside, it's good that you're happy with the product that you bought. Fortunately it seems that some do enjoy Hi-MD, even if others (like me) don't really see the point (except for live recording in PCM). All hail old MD!
