Question about recording with Total Recorder

If I want to record from my Hi-MD to Total Recorder (over USB) what do I have to do to seccure that no differences between original and copy will be heard?

(using Windows XP)

Is there any possibility to make tracks without gaps afterwards because Sonicstage can only play two with a gap.

Is there no other way to avoid the "only one" upload thing?

Total recorder grabs the Audio data before the soundcard driver gets it, so that is definitely a clean digital copy.

However, you have to remove the gaps manually in a subsequent editing step, using a wave editor.

As a note, Total Recorder will only give you a ‘clean copy’ if the source file was uncompressed. Otherwise, it will give you a decoded version of a compressed source.

While still a ‘digital copy’, it is not an exact copy per se.

This is probably obvious to most of you, but I thought it worth mentioning to any newbies reading this.

You can of course also use this software for making ‘digital copies’ of music that you download or stream from Napster et al. That’s why a future version of Windows has been touted to disallow this sort of digital copying. Not sure if that’s still part of MS’s plans.

Clean means in this context, that the soundcard driver has no chance of adding unwanted stuff to that data.
