If its not, is any way to do it directly? Qwakrz Posted November 3, 2004 Report Share Posted November 3, 2004 Unless you have a PC to use with an MD then your options are going to be VERY limited. Hi-MD is capable of transfering audio from MD - PC when working in Hi-MD mode and you can now use the Wave converter tool to convert the DRM'd file into a wav file. However you need to use SonicStage to copy the music off the disc & this is PC only software. The only way to use an MD with a Mac is the old way of using an audio cable to link the line out on the MD into the Line in on the Mac. The transfer software (SonicStage) is free and available from www.connect.com. No, the transfer is digital so there's no loss. However, SonicStage has the nasty habit of destroying tracks to be transferred to the PC, incidentally rendering them lost forever. Be careful before you transfer, and make backups if possible. The cheapest Hi-MD model with a Mic In would be the MZ-NH700. It sells for around 200USD, from what I've seen, although I don't think that the unit itself is marketed in the US...
