Clamp filters

They are to suppress RF interference to & from the device down the cables.

Basically do what most people do & remove them, then if you have no problems you dont need to put them back on. My NH1 never had any clamp filters on the cables for the unit when it arrived (just one on the USB cable that I have removed) and I have no problems with the unit.

There is a 'seam' on the filter. One side is the hinge, the other side the clamp latches (?). Just lift the latches up (with fingernails/small screwdriver etc), and the whole thing should easily pop open. Don't try to force it open or you may damage the underlying cable...

However, I've noticed some filters are beginning to be melded on to the cables (eg. on some of the USB cables). Maybe this will become a standard practice. Let's hope not - these may not be so easy to remove.
