TMB
Ok I got a Net MD Walkman MZ-N707 TYPE-R MDLP and I'm using the latest version of SonicStage(I tried to use the origional software and it wouldn't work). Finaly I got it so I can upload the songs to the MD but I don't hear any sound from my earphones. When I plug a mic in and record I can hear what I'm recording so it's not my headphones or the headphone jack. Also the time is says its playing (where it is in the song)takes a really long time to count just a few seconds...like it took it 15 seconds to count off 4 seconds. It'll also deleats the whole disc of music when I turn it off then back on. I'm uploading it as the LP2 format. Anyone got any ideas on this one? Bananatree
The thermal head in your n707 may be shot. While I've never had any first hand experience with that model or that problem specifically, the "deleting disc on shutdown" is a common problem with a few units. Thing is, the disc must write a Table of Contents to finalize each recording session. If this is not done, the disc will be just a bunch of data read BLANK by your MD walkman. TMB
I'm sure it writes the TOC, cuz it says thats it's editing it on the unit after the song gets transfered
Qwakrz
I agree with Zombietycho. If the magnetic head fails on an MD, it will look as if it is completing everything but it has been unable to correctly write to the disc & blanks it. 1's and 0's are written to the disc by changing the magnetic field on & off (more complicated but you'll get the idea) and if the magnet is broken it will always write either a 1 or a 0 and this blanks a disc.
