i installed version 3.0, 3.1 and 3.2 on windows 2000 in a vmware-machine, which was never touched by a previous version of sonicstage. so no uninstall is needed.

when i want to start the program i get this error message "Cannot initialize OpenMG CD Manager" and i am forced to shut down the program.

I have windows 2000 pro with service pack 4 on a vmware workstation 5.0. in this vmware i can access the NW-E103 as a memory stick. this means: i can copy files on it. I have a AMD Athlon 2800+, for wmware 256 MB RAM. USB 2.0. no USB devices during the installation process. i disabled my mcaffee 7.0 antivirus software. vmware-tools were still running. i don't want stop them for performance reason.

in this workstation windows 2000 tells me that i have a NECVMWwar VMWare IDE CDR10. and I can access every CD. i installed allready ForceASPI v1.7 to have a aspi driver. but this does not solve the problem!

I unplugged NW-E-103 and made a net-installation of SonicStage 3.2. i rebooted my workstation. then i installed simple burner 2.0.04.18080.

then i started sonicstage and got the error message: "Cannot initialize OpenMG CD Manager".

why i need a cdrom-drive for sonicstage? all what i want is uploading my mp3 to the NW-E-103!

can anybody help me? or is there an other way to copy my mp3 on nw-e103, so that i can listen them there?

thank you for any hint and help in advance!

i posted this issue allready in this forum and the admin gave the advice to post in this forum. And i followed allready this FAQ.

additional Information:

When i start sonicstage i get an error box:

Cannot initialize OpenMG CD Manager"

when i cklick ok, i get the following error from windows:

"Omgjbox.exe has encountered a problem and has to be shut down"

Then i found in the internet this:

MS KnowledgeBase Article

I installed it, but i had no access!

how to solve this problem?

It has to be something with those CD drivers. Let me ask you this though, when you uninstall Sonicstage, you then go into the directories and manually delete the files, right? The same for the registry entries too, I assume?

You may also want to try this after uninstalling in Start | Run:

regsvr32 /u GCCollection.dll
or
regsvr32 /u cdsrc.ax

Additionally, when you install Sonicstage, you just install 3.2, right? There's no need to do 3.0 > 3.1 > 3.2.

yes, i deleted every directory and registry entry by hand.

both commands (regsvr32 /u GCCollection.dll ; regsvr32 /u cdsrc.ax) gave me a message like this: loadlibrary(CCollection) failed - modul was not found.

then i installed SonicStage v3.2 by webinstaller. no upgrade from 3.x!

but you know, by the wmware workstation i can get a very from any sony-software untouched windows. and i allready tried a very new installation of sonicstage 3.2 by the webinstaller. without success.

and here i found some other hints which i tried:

* the hint by the MDAC repair tool

* the hint by "wmfdist.exe".

without success!

and this is true for me too:

The "Omgjbox.exe has caused an error and must be closed by windows" comes up everytime at the exact point where the animation shows "loading UI components".

sorry, NO. as i allready wrote: i can access each usb-stick: the mp3-player too! and i can copy files on the mp3-player. so there can't be something wrong with the usb-modul.

i returned the sony-mp3-player and got an apple shuffle. much less problems with that.

if you like, i can do some other tests for the installation of sonicstage on a vmware workstation 5.0.

cheers

It's hard to tell, mate. It has to be with VMWare..you may want to try compiling USB/SCSI as either modular or into the kernel, or recompiling the kernel. I'm not really sure, though.
