NW-E507 FM Radio Feature, JP to US?

I was recently in Japan and picked up the Nw-e507(blue), but of course the radio frequencies are different. is there a way to get get the JP FM range (76MHz to 90MHz) changed to US FM range (87.9MHz to 107.9MHz). Maybe installing the USA firmware 2.0 over the Japanese 1.0? Any help is appreciated.

You could always try, but I doubt it would help much.

You *may* be in luck. It just depends if you want to be a guinea pig.

I was browsing through the service manual for the E50x series and theres an option to change a tuner setting.

To enter the test mode, put it in hold state, press and hold PLAY\STOP, then press reset.

If you press the MENU button, you should be able to change the Fmax\Fmin (frequency range) of the tuner.

The service manual is posted in the downloads section of the forum.

I can get to test mode but there doesn't seem to be a way to change the frequency setting after pressing menu. Thanks though.

I have the same problem. Even though it seems to be an overseas model (bought in Japan), it seems that the frequency ranges can not be changed. Does anybody have any further suggestions?

It's undoubtedly that it need to update the firmware to adjust the frequency range( change the voltage steps that apply to the tuning varactors in tuner module) , however, sony didn't release the firmware~~~

Warning to anyone who buys products from Japan.Always buy overseas models ONLY .

Sony has mentioned the names of the shops from where u can buy overseas models in Japan

Then click on"STORES" u will find a number of stores selling overseas models.

Since ur also having the same problem then ur not having overseas model.

Overseas models have Built-in wideband FM tuner........

Seem to remember that the service manual lists 5-6 different main circuit boards for the 500 series. Perhaps some have the FM range hard coded while the Japanese OverSeas model could be altered.

I'm afraid ,but there is no way you can change the frequency range .
